OK everyone...I'm totally out of the loop, but I swear, I'm good people, you can ask around! Can someone tell me if anything is happening in the Pacific Northwest this year? Due to my total dedication to my family and my lack of time to take off work, I can't go very far, so all them Midwest and East Coast things are too far for me.
However, if you go to one of the festivals previously mentioned, come back here and write up a little story so I can live it vicariously, dig? Awww, come on...please?
Much love to all you heads!
One of the DNCers whose name escapes me at the moment did a great poster for the upcoming one.

Dunegrass Festival Field, Empire, MI
Info: In its 15th year, the 2007 Sleeping Bear Dunegrass and Blues Festival will continue its celebration of organic music and plant it in sublime and inviting Northern Michigan. On the first weekend of every August, Dunegrass finds its home in the Village of Empire, snuggled walking distance between the shore of Lake Michigan and the wooded hills of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore. The Festival showcases a collection of regional and national artists from multiple genres, all with roots steeped in tradition and vision, and arranges them on two adjacent stages for a continuous river of music. The festival grounds showcase talented artisans and vendors from around the area and provide a positive atmosphere for both weekend campers and daily visitors alike. Ammenities include camping (tents & RVs), bonfires, wholesome food, a children's activity tent, shuttles to the lake for swimming and parking, a bike co-op, and lots of room for foot stomping. The staff and volunteers are committed to making The Sleeping Bear Dunegrass and Blues Festival a safe and fun event for everyone and the Village of Empire stands ready to welcome festival goers from around the country.

Milwaukee does the festival a little differently. Summerfest goes on for 10 days, but admission is separate each day (though lots of promotions make everything but the parking reasonable). There are a number of stages, so there is always something happening somewhere.
Mr. Weir is on the schedule this year, but it's all kinds of music - truly something for everyone. You may not find your kind of music every day, but you'd be hard pressed not to find a few worthwhile days in the 10.
I'm pretty sure it is now the largest music festival in America - but that could be local hype.
