Welcome to the latest evolution of Dead.Net. Before you start clicking around we just wanted to give you three... no, four, informational gems.

1. We want you to know that this site is going to be ever-improving, ever-evolving and never sitting still. Post your ideas, your wish lists, your hopes for what you wish this site could be. We have a million ideas of our own, and we want to build this 'thing' into the best 'thing' it can be.

2. At the moment, we have not fully merged the community/archives with the store. That means that you are going to have to create a whole 'nother account when you want to go to the store and buy stuff. We are working really hard to make it so that you only need one account. In the meantime, when you do create your User accounts, please use the same email address for both so that we can unite them when the time comes.

3. The store. Yes, the shelves are a little empty right now. We are moving truckloads of merch to a shiny new warehouse, and so it's not all in yet. We will be adding tons of new stuff really soon!

4. That's it! Wander around and check it all out. We hope you're happy with what we're building here, since really, it's all for you.

Conversations with Jerrry's spirit -poem... reply

posted as new - meant as reply to poem writing post titled w "Conversations with Jerry's spirit...." :

I had heard of tWendy Weir's book from a fellow fan in 2007 and its obtainable but for whatever reason I neglected to order from 3rd party via Amazon.. Think I will grab copy now- never sure what to make of channeling but feel more comfortable with idea esp. given the close family connection.
I believe that spirits of folks -especially musicians who you have a connection with from many shows. Feels to me a bit like channeling when you jam with their recorded performances.
My playing improved a lot playing w old JGB live performances and Dead along with a pile of jazz greats as well..
I have felt as if I got a master class not just from the music laid down on recording but the whole "vibe" of the moments in sound.. -in last 8 yrs I kearned to improvise when in youth had little ear for it.. sure its practice but there is more than meets the eye for "connected playing" - one feels it just as one could at a Dead show--(minus the other 10k spirits energizing the music!) ..
- not quite your poem moment but I think its likely you tapped inti same place all musicians and artists do if it wasnt Jer directly it likely was guided by your own higher self perhaps activated w some "guidance" - cool thoughts - for sure spirit has ability to be anywhere instantly from that side.. thanks for sharing this..

Alabama Getaway

Aspiring musician/guitarist/vocalist in Alabama stuck in an intermediate rut. Looking for others musicians who love the Dead and other jam bands to get together for a jam session. Does anyone know of a place on this site or any other sites where I can connect with other musicians in my area to play with?

Conversations with the Spirit of Jerry Garcia

Something truly magical has happened. Recently I felt compelled to re-read Wendy Weir's book In The Spirit: Conversations with the Spirit of Jerry Garcia. While reading through the pages, I felt a presence driving me to put the book down and write a poem. A poem which I had then submitted to The Standard Literary Magazine for a December contest to win a $100 Gift Card. I really feel I was contacted by Jerry's spirit and the words of my poem are what he told me. It's all still in the process of publication right now, but if there is any way to get this message through to Bob Weir and the boys, I wish to tell them somehow what Jerry told me. I think they could go to Soldier's Field in July with a new song to offer to the people. Please help me reach out to Bob. I feel like it's something I have to do. Much love to all, my email is oneman1605@saintly.com and my cell number 8145906671. Thank you all so much for being you. -Jared

Stories of getting to the show

Does anyone have stories about getting to a Grateful Dead show? I'm in the beginning stages of creating a documentary about getting to a show, more specifically, the experience of giving/getting a "miracle". I am looking for all stories of how Deadheads got to shows.

I was only 12 when Jerry died and my parents weren't Deadheads, though some of their friends were, so I would hear some great stories from them as I grew up. Towards the end of highschool, I got into jam bands and through going to festivals and shows, I met more Deadheads and heard more stories. The announcement of the "Fare Thee Well" shows has inspired me to finally produce the film I've had rolling around my head for years.

If you have a story you'd like to share, I'd love to hear it. And thanks in advance for sharing!

@DeadGeek

Try this for problem B: Compose a PM to someone, enter the first several letters of that dead freak's name into the 'To:' field of the PM. Then, watch the magic ensue (autofill). As for the making the names 'clickable' in chat, I wouldn't hold your breath. It's a pretty bare bones chat, probably by design. Lord knows stranger things can happen, but we'll see...
