did I just hear you volunteering to be the guest host, spacebrother? ( -:
I'm hitting the road in a few weeks.... won't be able to do it justice.
please do it, if you feel like it.
where is Lou Davenport when I need him? come on Louuuuu!! (Ted Baxter voice)
I have another new and improved idea for a new show, posting up very short snippets of audio clips of the boys tuning between songs, or coming out of space... that would be a new game show 'Call the Tune' I think I got the techno details worked out of how to get the audio clips hosted elsewhere and then posting up a link here.. but again, no real time to start it now or keep it going. maybe from October. if anyone else can do that, that would be most cool. actually, if the site people felt like it, since they have the tapers section available to host audio stuff, it would be easy. (though time consuming) Rhino could offer real prizes to winners, get some actual sponsors (not my imaginary ones) and I could finally chuck the Uptight Game Show Host's Manual into the Gulf of Siam once and for all. I am still trying to get the Go Kat Go hair grese out of my doo.
meanwhile, I ALSO have to dump my cheesy sports coat a la Monty Hall... my old lady has been bitching to me about that. However, the policy clearly states on page 423 of the Uptight Game SHow Host's Manual that I am required to wear it on camera and off. Even I, your humble host, am not above the policy.

I may be in the minority here but I'm lovin' just about everything I've seen here. Then again I wasn't active on the old forum so I'm not stuck in the "trying to compare" mode...
Being in Beta means never having to say you're sorry ;)
"if you get confused..."
How about bringing back CC Joes "Name That Show" thread and the musicians "Whats Your Setup" thread. Also being able to bold type, use emos and smilies, type size, italics.
*covers head for fallout*
How demanding of me huh? *grin*
I like the new layout.
I'd suggest that the proper term should be 'baby person'
I am full of suggestions this fine day
"full of something" echos CC Joe's old lady... ) -;
(bringing the banter back)
Mea culpa, izzie, (and preemptive apology to Marye), you are a babygirl (Shit, is this ok to agree with? Or did I put my foot in the pudding again?) esp. in comparrison to this 'older than dirt' codger with 3 adult sons (youngest just graduated from high school last month. Hooray!!).
I told you that my wife said I was better, but (after 27 years married) I am still a 'work in progress'.
Picasso was asked when he knew a painting was done and he replied "When I stop painting."
Here's to us all continuing to put brush to canvas and have music to fill the air.
The Truth is realized in an instant: the Act is practiced step by step.
thanks for the words of sanity, gentlemen.
well, except for that mom-figure stuff. I'm the Babygirl in the circles I run with, and am young, dammit. I'm only a momma-figure to my 13 year old, and only then when I'm not Dude or Babe.
But yeah, change is hard and habits are hard to break. we appreciate your patience and willingness to come along for the ride!
It seems like the difficulty may be related to the conditions that one gets used to. I remember when all admission to the shows meant that you could sit wherever you wanted (festival seating?) and then it changed/progressed to 'reserve seating' at some shows. There is always a period of adjustment to any change processes.
I was stating to a friend how the old forums were more like the wild west where anything goes and we attempted (emphasis on attempted) to police ourselves and assist each other in exercising a modicum of respect and control regarding their posts. It was where we ran the show (to a great degree). Maybe comparable the old days of the 'acid tests' where there were no rules but the whole scene kindof ran along on its own creative power. That scene changed and so has this one.
It is difficult moving so quickly to the new 'culture' that is structured in such a different way. But hey, change is hard. It is/was tough for me when I moved the kitchen clock 3 years ago and I still look at that spot (where it used to be) when I want to know what time it is.
So, I am still excited, although sometimes I feel like izzie and Marye are like "Mom figures" (don't delete me, gals, I'm a recovering sexist. My wife tells me that I am doing better, really) but more in the parental sense (don't get too Freudian on me). That this is such a radical change for what we all were participating in on the other site. But that doesn't mean we can't change and that this site can't/won't progress and change as well. Maybe, there is a collective whiplash with such a quick switch for some of us.
Shit, to make a long story short (which I am constitutionally incapable of) I will work on being constructive, but you know, it is hard to change a guy whose favorite bumper sticker was "Question Authority". Luckily, I have also learned that "as you perceive it, so it will be" and will make efforts to view this change in an positive fashion even though it does take effort for me to be able to relearn how to contribute in this venue.
I was kinda used to the the old way ('old and in the way, thats what I heard'em say') of posting etc., but this old brain can manage to forge new synaptic trails (with what I have left) with herculean effort and practice (dammit, that is TOO close to work). Be patient with me all, (you too, izzie and Marye) and as I recall Mark Twain's saying "It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble, it's what you know for sure, that ain't so." Then I can remind myself to question and challenge my own perceptions. And maybe I can learn something.
Hey, welcome to the dance!
To Soeharto, (and to others who are getting bummed for whatever reason)
dudes, stick around for a while, if you choose. up to you what you do, but shucks, give things a chance to get together. who jumps from a ship of fools which just has a few leaks?
please give the crew a chance to fix 'em.
you wanna get off the bus, here? up to you, dude, but personally my old bus had really uncomfortable seats, a rusted through floorboard, shock absorbers which worked in the opposite way (giving shocks rather than absorbing them) and a transmission that left pieces up and down every highway in North America... anyways, it was one hell of a ride.
I think my old lady is quite pleased when I spend MORE time on the 'puter... ( -;
"quoting previous posts
CC, I would say for now just do it the old-fashioned way. Thanks."
sheesh, when I was a boy, we used to be able to click on a quote thing...
nah, just kidding. ( -: (tongue frmly in cheek)
reminds me of things my father used to say...
'when I was a boy, I had to walk 5 miles to school. everyday. in the snow. snow even in summer. uphill.
uphill, BOTH ways...'
sorry - I thought that was funny, and wanted to capture it!
PCW - we've been through this alot in the past few days, and as you poke around you'll undoubtedly see references to this issue in various places, and MaryE and I haven't changed the answers yet.
It's a housekeeping issue, not a personal one. There are people here from GD sites that don't allow any user-created forums, and people from GD sites that are all about the free-for-all forums. We're working on a balance here, and are getting some pretty positive feedback about it.
While it may not be what you're used to, maybe give it a try for more than just the first day? If there is a particular forum you would like created, just ask. I know it's a little awkward, but really, we don't bite. usually. not hard, at least.
