I am an English teacher at a public high school in Southern California, married to an incredibly talented artist (Karen Pollitt, who draws, paints, and sculpts at an ability level that humbles me daily). We have an assortment of pet rodents: currently 6 formerly wild house mice that we captured in live traps, set up with cages, water bottles, food dishes, and exercise wheels and 1 terribly overweight domestic rat; however, this total has been declining steadily (from a high of 25 mice!) now that we have FINALLY eliminated the free-roaming mouse population through humane capture and incarceration--and the little boogers are finally passing away via old age (who would have thought that a wild mouse could live almost 4 years in captivity?), no children, and no large pets. We live in the mountains of Southern California, in snow country. 28 years married and counting!
