1976 June 24,@ Tower Theater,3rd row center was a show, I will never forget. The band was 20 feet from me ,it was surreal. I was a built to last Deadhead,but that show just showed me how powerful the music of the DEad was. My first Dead show was in 72 and my last was in 78, but there at the Tower was Special.JM

Have you listened to this show yet? Jerry was ALIVE and in the flow like he was in the early 70's... The China > Rider (for me) is the best I've ever heard! Then a sweet LL Rain and the mind blowing Aiko > Dark Star > Terrapin! The Dark Star is also my all-time favorite and the most jazzy "together" version I've ever heard! Does not space out there too too far - is more like a Jazz ballad! Mostly for me, I feel the Heart and Soul of Jerry and the Boys radiantly alive and it this set moves me to tears every time I listen to it. Give it a listen for yourself! it would have to be a dark star orchestra show in Cincinnati ohio at moonlight gardens not old enough to see grateful dead but the further show ranks up there but the moonlight show was it any one go?

Being 16 I, unfortunately never even shared a day of existence with Jerry. Luckily I heard over the grateful dead station on xm radio that there was a show, and I got tickets and my family went to Chicago. I went to the concert with my sisters boyfriend, because he'd be cool with me smoking and whatnot. There is no question that was the best day of my life. It felt so beautiful, I've never felt so free, because freedom treads in the absence of judgement and the atmosphere of acceptance was incredible. What's tough is not being sad that it's over. I'm thrilled it happened, but that once in a lifetime experience is over. The tidal wave of love, peace and happiness that washed over me that july fourth is over. What I'm looking forward to is meeting other deadheads later in my life journey and hopefully dance to some "The Music Never Stopped" with some of them

.....records--then older bro-took me upstate NY-to a college-to meet his friends "tryin to attend higher learning"--I'm still in high school & the "higher learning at Harpur College-Binghamton,NY- started for me.......now Dick's Picks # 8---seen them in the East--then moved to the West---a NYE at Winterland-got in for free when a door flew open---east to west---there were the BEST-------ALOHA!

Buffalo, 4th of July '86, the year I graduated high school. Drove up from NYC with 3 friends in one of their dad's Lincoln Continental. Got there late, walked out onto floor to opening lick of Cold Rain and Snow. Didn't know the song well, but those 7 notes and band kicking in with that singular joyous sound - the effect was instantaneous. My body and soul just melted with the music like I'd been born in it, and also like I'd been searching for it my whole life. That was also my first Dylan and first Petty show - not too shabby! - Peace

it was quite the event, a local gig for me, but the billing of Dylan, Petty and the Dead was mind blowing....the Dead played a few Buffalo July 4th shows and none too shabby.

Hey GRRRR...I saw that same tour in Minneapolis a few weeks ahead of you. I have to say,I was REALLY looking forward to it but the acoustics in the Metrodome were so horrendous, the show was beyond awful. I moved around a bit and some areas were marginally better than others but overall, the experience was so bad that I contemplated giving up on the Dead. I'm glad I came to my senses and "gave them another chance". The sound was so bad that I did not even recognize any of Dylan's songs, and even many of the Dead's tunes. I'm glad it was the venue and not the bands :) PS...I caught the Dead in 88 and 89 in Bloomington, Mn, and those shows were GREAT!
