    Pilgrimage to Mecca
The first day at Mecca we spent all afternoon playing hack on a sad green hill asking passers-by for tickets, which were scarce. There was no parking lot. One guy chastised us for arriving without tickets and said we were ruining the scene... But, I always found tickets this way if the box office was sold out. A guy I met at Madison Sq Gardens showed up with his Mom and Miracled me! Thanks, RC! The blue meanies kicked in hard during Half-step. The arena looked small without a bad seat in the house.... but it was maybe 13,000 people. The first set rocked, with many highlights including when Brent got everyone to hold their fist in the air. The second set was incredibly weird. They played China-Rider followed by Playin'. I was dancing barefoot when my friend grabbed my arm and insisted I come to the bright yellow hallways. This was my 7th show but I had never seen a full-on crazy hallway dancing frenzy before. Every person I could see was dancing, spinning, or rotating. Everyone was perfectly distanced. The hot dog counter girl was staring at the dancing with her jaw dropped. I stayed in the halls for the rest of the set. I wandered back into the dark arena to watch Jerry sing Morning Dew. It was awesome. I was now on the other side of the arena. When it ended, I had to re-find my spot where my shoes and wallet were. They were still there! Great show.

    Corrupted another...
Drove from Cincy with a friend; the same friend who went with me to Riverbend in '86, Bloomington, MN in '88, and had the bad manners to schedule his wedding on the same day as Buckeye Lake in '88 (which, after his divorce, he admitted was a case of mistaken priorities). We stayed with an army buddy of his in Milwaukee and we took this guy to the show. The newbie wore waffle stompers, jeans, flannel shirt, and a John Deere hat, and never looked or felt out of place. We had hooked another one.
