One of our gang came straggling in at home just an hour prior to showtime due to slow service at a fast-food joint. We hauled ass to Irvine, then bounded out of the car with the recording equipment as we passed the gate to the parking lot. We could already hear the crowd and band tuning up as we ran up the hill, and managed to hold up the mikes by hand and flick the record button seconds before the opening strains of Mississippi 1/2 Step.
