I was in San Francisco for a Medical Conference and met a fellow Deadhead who was in tie dye. I asked him where he was going and he said "to see the dead in Palo Alto". I picked up tickets at a kiosk on the corner and my wife (6 months pregnant) and I got a ride with him and his friends in a VW microbus. They were all in tie dye & tripping. I was in a suit and tie (I still had to present later in the day!).
First time I ever heard "Men Smart, Women Smarter".
I left 1/2 way into the 2nd set and went back to the hotel. I ended up in the bar, where there was the bartender, me and I guy on the piano-Merle Saunders! Turned out he was at the show also and left after the 1st set cause he had to work the hotel bar. Bought him drinks and talked to him for about an hour.
Blo'win off a Dead show for a hotel gig? Say it ain't so!
Giving a presentation AFTER going to a Dead show? Are you kidding me? Yikes! That makes me cringe just thinking about it.. My plan would have been to suddenly become ill and miss the conferance. "Oh man I must have ate something bad" :-)
"Here's my half a dollar if you dare .. double twist when you hit the air. Look at Julie down below .. the levee doing the dopaso"

.....as Mickey would say !!!.... another Frost Classic ONE OF MY ALL-TIME TOP 5 SHOWS... arguably the best ever at Frost .... 2 encores...
The opening with Let the Good Times Roll- SUPER !!.... Hey Pocky Way - incredible, the ultimate surprise song, thought the Let it Grow would never end...
short break.. "ran" into the 2nd Set with Shakedown, which we hadn't heard in a while, almost 2 yrs(NorCal).
No one was pleased more than I... had been having Shakedown withdrawals for some time !!! Came out of Space with Going Down the Road/Watchtower... they were rockin' now...
Rippin' Sugar Mag... China Rider into OMSN... as they left I was yelling (along with others) "ONE MORE SET"... as we truly believed and thought they were gonna give one.... alas, there was a show tomorrow !!! LOL
