Ann Arbor, MI Second Night
The previous night had a rockin' feel to it where this night was more experimental. The Birdsong was a tremendously played version. The entire second set was perfect all the way through.
My first show and as they
My first show and as they say, the rest is history. Listening to the tapes since I really learned how much I dug this kinda experimental playing. The Scarlet-Fire is really spacey for sure. A great initiation to a good ride!
I love the Crysler
After the harsh treatment of Pittsburgh. This was like going home. Great people, tiny venue, And the shows rocked. This show in particular is very exploratory with great jams. highlights: Red Rooster, Bird Song and the entire second set. Excellent show.
Fine show
It seemed whenever the Dead played Ann Arbor they turned it up a notch, no doubt in recognition of its "counter culture" significance.
Peaceful place
that's how u know ur having a memorable experience and just a great trip. Jerry gives me the peace sign it was like, well a once in a lifetime experience. we drove out from Boston to visit some college friends. attended hash bash and caught a couple shows.
boy was that fun. too bad my friend Jimmy is no longer around. he is in a peaceful place, or so it looks from space.
Ann Arbor
I would stack these 2 shows up against any shows played in '89 from any venue....that is how strong these performances were.

89' was a strong year
Granted I only saw the second night here and it was strong, but for Ann Arbor to say they stood up to ANY shows in 89' is a stretch when you consider Greek, Alpine, Hampton, of that year. Don't get me wrong I had a blast in Ann Arbor and the band did play well, but 89'did have a lot of very strong shows to choose from.
