    Riverfront Arena

Technically the name of the venue was (and always will be to me) Riverfront Coliseum not "Arena" and I was front row CENTER thanks to GD mail order. Thank you for one of the most memoroable shows I attended :)

    It Looked Like Rain

The parking lots like some concrete Middle Earth. Bootlegs echoing and merging. More balloons than G-d's birthday.

You, the man walking by himself singing Bertha, do you remember, or am I the sole witness? Scored tickets five seconds before the show and ran like heck. The magnificent deranged energy can't be appreciated via audio. The place felt living-room cozy and the band and crowd were barely divisible units of the Great Mind. Spring 89 had moments like this. Check out the second set of Milwaukee's first show. You're welcome.

Shameless LL Rain fan. This one hits peak weepy. This tour is on a shortlist of Best Times of My Life. Some features of reality are so great they redeem all the rest.

Great Show; I will never forget the hippie being arrested

My friend Heather and I were in the lobby and saw the guy being arrested by the police. He didn't have any clothes on. I assume this is the stage jumper you are talking about. He had light-colored hair and was a bit tall and lanky. We wanted to rescue him from the police, and they were looking for someone who knew him, so we told him that we did know him. Then they asked us his name, and I didn't really think it would go well if we made one up, so we didn't. I was always worried about him, so glad to see here that he did have friends with him, because I always thought I should have done a better job bluffing and gotten him away from the cops.

We had such a marvelous time at this run of shows, starting in Ann Arbor and ending in Milwaukee. Looking back, I can't believe we went to all of them, since we were enrolled at the University of Michigan at the time, it was coming up on Final Exams, and somehow I still passed my classes!

went with my brother and some friends after leaving work early to be there. we were all in the cosmos and my younger brother took a trip into the outer limits, if you know what I mean. unexplainable occurrences were on the menu and since music feeds the soul, we dined on an exquisite show enhanced by good people and the kindest of the kind of everything.

My big memory from this show was during Blow Away some guy jumped on stage. Parrish or one of those guys tried a big bear-hug and the guy just ducked and kept dancing until they finally dragged him off. Brent went nuts during that Blow Away. That was good to see.

GOT IN LINE FOR TICKETS EARLY AND WAS ABOUT 10 PEOPLE FROM THE WINDOW AND I STEPPED OUT OF LINE TO MAKE SURE MY BOSS WAS AT THE RESTAURANT TO OPEN THE STORE THAT DAY 'CUZ I HAD TO GET TICKETS FOR THE SHOW. WELL, NO ANSWER AT THE RESTAURANT, SO AS THE MANAGER I HAD TO LEAVE THE LINE AND GO OPEN THE STORE, YEP, I WAS PISSED. SO I DIDN'T GET TICKETS AND THAT WAS WHEN THE WHOLE "TOUCH OF GREY" THING WAS HAPPENING, SO SHOWS WERE SELLING OUT QUICKLY WITH ALL THE NEWCOMERS. NOT A TICKET TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE! SHOW DATE IS GETTING CLOSER AND I HAVEN'T LET MY BOSS OFF THE HOOK FOR ME NOT GETTING TICKETS, AND I WAS LAYING IT ON THICKER AS THE WEEKS WENT BY. HE FELT TERRIBLE ABOUT FORGETTING, BUT NEITHER ONE OF US COULD FIND SEATS. HE OWNED A RESTAURANT THAT I RAN FOR AND WITH HIM, BUT HE ALSO OWNED AN AUTO BODY REPAIR AND WAS THE BEST CORVETTE GUY IN THE MIDWEST, ONE OF HIS CLIENTS WAS A BIG, BIG RADIO PERSONALITY IN TOWN AND DARRELL ( MY BOSS ) ASKED HIM FOR TICKETS AND HE SAID EVEN HE COULDN'T GET TICKETS FOR HIS KIDS. NO WAY IN HELL WERE THERE ANY TICKETS ANYWHERE AND HE LOOKED ALL OVER. GRADUATION TIME WAS COMING SOON AND DARRELL WAS RESTORING A STINGRAY FOR THIS PERSONALITY ON THE RADIO WHO SAID NO TICKETS ANYWHERE! nOW DARRELL HAD BEEN WORKING ON THIS CAR FOR LITERALLY YEARS AND ALL HE NEEDED TO DO WAS FINISH PAINTING IT SO IT COULD BE PRESENTED AS A GRADUATION GIFT FOR THIS CATS' SON. WELL, NOW WE HAD HIM! " NO TICKY, NO LAUNDRY! " OR SHOULD I SAY " NO TICKY, NO STINGRAY! " I OPENED UP MY PAY ENVEOPE A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE SHOW, AND THERE THEY WERE. 10TH ROW ON THE AISLE, A GIRL THAT SAT BEHIND US TOLD US AFTER THE SHOW THAT SHE WAS SAD THAT THE TOUR WAS OVER (FOR THEM) THAT NIGHT AND THEY HAD TO GO BACK HOME ( TO PITTSBURGH, REASON TO BE SAD IN AND OF ITSELF) BUT THEY FELT BETTER BECAUSE MY FREIND AND I DANCED EVERY SONG THAT NIGHT WE WERE SO HAPPY TO FINALLY BE IN SEATS THAT GOOD THAT WE ACTUALLY HAD STUBS FOR! DEADGERB!

this was my first show, and the stage jumper was with our group. he was a little overly stimulated and excited to see his godfather. this guy's mom used to live in the haight and hung out with all the bands. apparently jerry was his 'godfather' or at least a friend of the family way back when. this show was kind of crazy and stressful for me. first, the stage jumping incident, then being left by our ride and having to navigate downtown cincinnati until we found some friends from our hometown to drive us to the hotel. i remember being very excited to hear china cat, as aoxomoxa was (and still is) my favorite studio album. i also seem to remember someone saying "space...space...space..." during space. perhaps not.

Wish someone had some photo's to post. Working on a scrap book of all my dead shows. Knew nothing about the grateful dead at the time, but after that night I had to go to more shows. China Cat seque into Rider was very energetic. I went with some friends. I scored a loge ticket, after I got my ticket people were smiling and saying to each-other,"Looks like he got a ticket." Must've been that trippy smile I was sporting. It was a good feeling and even better when I got inside.

This was a birthday present to my self. I turned 30 a couple days before. Loved Dear Mr. Fantasy. Danced the whole show. Didn't get to sleep until I got home from work Monday morning.

So I was on this Tour (owner and c0-creator of "TOURS R US" stickers)a lot back in the day, and this tour was very memorable, and mainly because of this night. So that was the night before Louisville "Freedom Hall," show and my friend Scott and I scored seats right behind Brent, and i think there was a big girl doing Lyric Sign Language..I think..not sure on that. But yes, during the Blow Away (the best best ever..bar none!) a tall, lanky dude leaps from my right onto the stage..now yes the stage was close to seating, but this dude must have had wings to make it down without falling. He makes it past Jerry :-) and stops in front of Weir when Steve Parish comes out and grabs him by his NECK and up off the ground about 6" and out behind drums...Crazy! Thats the 1st part of this story. So the next night in Louisville, I was in rare Xtra special mode, and was in hallway sitttin down in a circle with some peeps I didnt really know when I start talkin to this "gumby-looking" blond-haired, lanky dude to my left. I begin to tell him about the night before and the Blow Away dude...He replies.."THAAAAT WAAAS MEEEEEE" I was Blown Away..He said he was wasted and asked them to take him to jail :-( Crazy! BUT AS I SAID CINN '89 THE BEST BLOW AWAY!
