oh yeah, I sure remember the GREAT WISTAHHH RIOT of 1988!
...except that it was never a riot at all! HA! Well, you guys have to understand the kind of town Wistahhh is - it may only be 60 miles west of Boston, but it's really another country, another century. Remember the t-shirts "Worcester is the Paris of the 90's"? Well, they meant the *1790's*! Frank Sinatra (who opened the Centrum) was much more their speed. Sad to say, I think that was the last GRATEFUL Dead show I got to see before Jerry died. I was going to bring the kids to see the Dead for their first show when Jerry up and died.

Yeah, we got kicked out after the show. I mean kicked out of town! No hotel scene, nothing. the cops were holding signs that said we had to leave. Oh well on to the next town...

    Riot police!
The day the dead got kicked out of Worcester.. I never made it in but having it simulcast live on the radio was great. Good friends, good times! Being kicked out by riot police... not so good...

The scene turned into a chaotic riot over the course of this run.The city vowed to never let us riffraff return.

my first introduction to the dead, and second to live music (aerosmith was a few months earlier). i didn't understand much of what was going on around me or on the stage. but the magic worked as i've been deadicated for the last 19 years.
