Killer Shakedown to start- a we were all crushed getting inside McNichols to get our floor seats, damn fine show for us Colorado folks

Because the Red Rocks shows were rained out and they moved the venue to McNichols, there were tons of free tickets. This was the first night of this run at McNichols and it was great!, Particularly the second set, with a classic, loud, crazy, renditions of he's gone>other one> wharf rat. Nobody's Jam was in there someplace. Phil was really lit, after everyone left the stage after Truckin', he could not get his bass off, and some cuties had to assit him and escot him off stage. All very endearing.

Because of all the fun we had the day before at Red Rocks and in the town of Morrison CO - I remeber the Denver Swat Police sourranded the McNichols facility with a ring of steal -Once we went into the parking lot they did'nt let us out to go site seeing down town! I think it had something to do with our appearence. Were you at the bon fire at Chief Hasa Camp ground did you do the window pane dance

1st time for me to hear Althea, Lost Sailor...intense!

As usual, the second night of a two- or three-night run was the best. Incredible energy and very tight. The second set was all first-rate. I've never heard a tape, but I'd bet this one sounds real good because it was fantastic live.

My first time in McNichols, a cavernous beast, but the Dead's sound crew rose to the occasion. We dosed for this one, yes. The first thing that struck me was the new energy coming from the keyboard corner. Great B3 chops rippling through the air, and evoking the old Pig Pen vibe. I didn't know who Brent was then, but he immediately won me over with his passion and incredible technique. The whole band sounded energized, and a far cry from the band I heard a year earlier at Red Rocks. I took my girlfriend that night, who had never seen them, and she came away a fan. She said to me, "Jerry plays such a sweet guitar!" Ain't that the truth.

"I do remember that two more shows were added at McNichols stadium, reason being heavy rains". Yup, very heavy rains. We were worried that they wouldn't get the show going at all. It didn't start until really late because the crew had to move all the gear at the last minute from the rocks. I remember the band talking about the work the crew did to move the show to McNichols, then a show I didn't expect because I was already impressed by the first night at the Rocks. All three shows were really pretty good, but I thought the 1st night at McNichols stood out as one of the best I've seen.

My buddy Kenny and I were 17 in Syosset,N.Y on Long Island when we literaly got on the bus(greyhound) for the two day trip ,we didn't bring anything to sleep with cuz we thought it was like the west in cowboy movies,(hey we were kids!)what I recall best is at the chief hosa camp ground there was this trio of folks singing "under the board walk" ....the rain-out was disapointing cuz Red Rocks was so amazing with the city of Denver in the distance and all ....I came back since ,in'85 but this time we traveled in a rented Winabago now that was somethin' cold beer and air conditioning right in the parking parking lot of Red rocks ! it was the first time I really hung-out with west coast deadheads (I being an East coast black and orange they more rainbows and unicorns) but after the lights Blew I felt right at home !!!!

When Bob said we don't know if we'll be here or there tomorrow night and they went into I Need A Miracle there was no way we going to be "there" on the 14th. This show was fun from beginning to end, just wish the vemue was "there" oh well

The day before, we drove out 700 miles from Tulsa, and only had tickets for the last 2 shows. I conned my way in and found a bunch of California friends in about the 7th row. The show was great, then we walked up so we could see the lights over Denver. What a magical place. Then they moved the next 2 shows indoors to MCNichols, a horrible barn with everyone on the floor standing on metal folding chairs. People grabbed the chairs and surged forward and it was dangerously uncomfortable, with people falling off their chairs, topped off by nasty, aggressive security. Then the band took the stage and did all they could to make up for the move from heaven to hell. I was used to them finding another gear. This was more like they hopped off the bus and into a race car and put the pedal to the metal. I felt like the guy in the chair in the old Maxell ad, with the music blowing my hair back. Sirius is playing the entire concert right now, and it is smoking. Every bit as good as I remember. The Bertha - Good Lovin is one of the few that doesn't make me miss PigPen. For 2 nights, they actually made this place better than Red Rocks. Now that's a Miracle!

I thought there were so many dead heads with no tickets and that is why the band said heck we gonna give this show to our tribe so we gonna move it to a bigger location so EVERYONE can attend the show. I only remember one red rocks and one Mcnichols but man we are taking long ago strange trips.

Great shows ...Marshall Tucker at the RR then the Dead the next night...then rain...so it was Mcnichols...oh man the holiday inn after the shows was crazy...the bar at the top...seemed like everyone was gonna dose...well they did...we took over the bar...the suits in the bar just kind of looked at us like we was nuts....perhaps we were...oh the fun....

It reeaallly rained hard and the shows had to be moved. Bummer. But ticket problems were fixed for many, including myself. My first Dead show ever was the night before and now I had my mojo working. I told my cynical friend Tom that they were going to open with Shakedown Street. He shnarffed at my lack of tour experience, telling me they NNNeeever open with Shakedown Street. Lesson learned early on - never say never at a Grateful Dead concert! We lit one up together as the band laid down the opening chords... Another great show. The band missed not a beat by moving indoors. I'm sure they were all just as bummed as we were that the show had to be moved and Bobby expressed his appreciation for the crew a couple of times from the stage.

I DNS if the dead had played there previously. Acoustics fair. Crowd a little subdues due to venue change or maybe I am just spoiled by Winterland vibe being from the city. They played some of my favs. High from first set: in the middle, me and my uncle, candy man,el paso, big river, and FODevil and closed it with deal. Second set highs:Bertha, he's gone (cool Colorado rain) and wharf rat. Sugar Mag encore was cool
