Jerry broke a string
Either the 5th or 6th was my first concert. The only identifier would be that Jerry broke a string on St. Stephen. It was very hot. I remember the crew coming out throwing water on the front of the crowd. My memory is somewhat unsure from too much acid. I could not find my car so I had to wait for everyone else to leave. Great concert.
Yes, we saw auras around everyone and it was the best Hard to Handle ever. Total Eclipse of the Moon indeed. You can hear Dave Clark whoop when Pig starts Hard to Handle, and I remember Bobby telling Bertando to back up with his tape recorder and thinking "hey he can't do that". So glad he did. My favorite show I think, though some of the later Winterland shows were great as well. I am blessed to have seen the band in their best years, raw and full of energy. Only wish I'd seen the 60's shows, but I can crank them up on the stereo and close my eyes and I'm right THERE!
