Whatta night!
Who could ask for more - see the Dead on my birthday. A fine time was had by all.
Row jimmy row....We are!
I recall hearing jerry croon "get down row" while my friends and I were having a smoke (sitting on the back stairs to the upper level). We all looked at each other and started rowing in unison... The 2nd set was one of the best Ive ever heard! The shakedown in the lot across from the arena was great too!
Still had fun!
This was a good end of the weekend of being in that opium dream and wasted on jack daniels and whippets!! made up with my girlfriend,Pretty sure my Oldest daughter was created this night!!
Focus on soul retreval
My dear friend J... had eaten a very large dose of mushrooms. I kept him close for the show.During Bird Song, he was 'flying". I stayed grounded and anchored to help him through the bardos. Our buddy the late Rod was also with us. Between sets some guy sees J laying on the floor and runs up saying "Oh man he's freaking out let me help" So I sez to the man with the fez ,"Just back off partner with that cigarette, and give the man some air" So second set J get to his feet with a sheepish grin and rose colored aura and starts to move in time to the music. He pulls through the fog. After the show I meet Tim Leary in the parking lot. "He's outside looking in".I said hello and he stopped and shook hands. And Bill Walton also was there that night. Then I drove my sister's car I borrowed from Inglewood back to her crib in Bev. Hills. And then off to Big Sur then Bay Area. (Hitch-hiking). Getting older aint all it's cut out be but I still thank the Great Mystery I grew up when and where I did. There's a Studs Terkle interview with Jerry Garcia where they talk about the "Canterberry Tales" quality of the many adventures of Dead Heads. Here Here and three cheers, Hemp Hemp Hooray! Later that month a guy walks up to me in the parking lot at the Oakland shows and says "Hey, I saw you help that guy who was having a tough time, here's a gift of the spirit" Was it 'The Grateful Dead Man"?
Two days before my BD
Won the tickets can you beat that Thanks KLOS, we been around a long time.
Quality is not expensive, the lack of it often is.
Fantastic time at this run of shows!
