    Dead Channel plays
heard this on rotation on XM Dead Channel, first of 2 shows that year in Mad-town, Oct show after Wake of the Flood release was also amazing, the hall melted. This show was great, got lost heading back to downtown after - that show was one of 3 consecutive weeks at Coliseum, 2 weeks prior Allman Bros, week after Santana, then week later this incredible set from the Dead, Check out Phil's intro to Dark Star. Each string hit a different part of the hall.

    Love this show!
One of my favorite tapes. My favorite "They Love Each other", "Here Comes Sunshine", and "Big River". A nice, relaxed and beautiful "Dark Star-> 'Eyes' -> "China Doll". And I only have the the second set. The band members are communicating well and the energy is always positive, real and hopeful. It would be great to have this commercially available. I'll be glad to share my recordings from this show through MP3 e-mails. My connection to the internet is slow, though. Jim

This was my first show and remains the most memorable Dead performance for me. It was epic in every way.

They tease the ABB's Mountain Jam during China Cat > Rider, play one of the all-time best Here Comes Sunshines to open the 2nd set, and the Dark Star > Eyes > China Doll sequence is epic. This show NEEDS to be an official Vault release.

Drove up from Beloit College with three or four buddies. We stood about 40 feet from the stage on the tarp covering the ice rink....cold feet...lol. Most memorable moment to me was Box of Rain started by Phil as an improvised bass solo. I was as sick as a dog from the Wisconsin winter but well enough to drive to St. Louis the next day to pick up my girlfriend and return to the University of Illinois show the following day. That year I saw the Dead six times over a three week period. Dumbass college kid.

This seemed like the begining of the new era for me. The first set seemed like a half a set. Maybe 8 songs compared to 15-16 just a year before. No more Pig Pen is just was never the same again
