    Panther Hall, ZZ Top

As mentioned in another entry, Panther Hall was normally a country dance hall, so this was most likely a mid-week, "dark night" venue rental. Quicksilver, including Dino Valenti singing and Nicky Hopkins on piano, played second. The local/regional opening act was ZZ Top, who were playing one of their earliest shows in that configuration, I think, although Billy Gibbons's previous band, Moving Sidewalks, had opened concerts in Dallas and Ft. Worth prior to that.

This was my first Dead show. I haven't found the set list here yet, but I remember them opening with "Good Lovin'".

    Uh Clem
I met a legendary Deadhead yesterday at the Starlight Theater in Terlingua, TX. He ran the light show for the February, 1970 concert in Panther Hall, Fort Worth, TX and jumped on the bus. He's been a fixture in the West Texas music scene and played three classics last night: Loser, Candyman and Dupree Diamond Blues. Awesome
