First GD arena show for me, too.
Went to the Bay Area with a buddy for the summer of '71; Il natives, I was straight off the farm. Definitely an eye-opening experience. Big city, skid row, pan-handlers, hookers, etc. A DJ on KFOG (I think), who went by the air name of "Rumpleforeskin" introduced me to the band. Workingman's Dead had just come out. Casey Jone's in heavy rotation. I think I saw them in a free show at Golden Gate park, but I don't see that performance in these listings. Came home at the end of the summer and went back to school at IWU in Bloomington. Couldn't get anyone else to come to the concert with me so I went by myself. Jerry with the Riders was a trip. Got back last Sunday night from a trip to visit the same buddy (who has lived in CA for the last 02-30 years) to see Further at the Greek. Writing a novel now using "Me and My Uncle" as an outline. I'll let you know if I get it finished. Peace.

someone at dinner came up with 2 tix. I had only heard about the dead from the reference in Hair & the dishwashers where I ate dinner used to sing Casey Jones. My only other rock shows had been herman's hermits & the hollies back in 67 & Steve Goodman in high school. Wow!!!! what an experience. sat up in c section & thru the smoke it was a life altering experience. later

but it sure was HOT inside. Check out the DarkStar>Eyes>China sequence. In fact, entire 2nd set cooked, with A squared > GDTRFB & the Saturday night encore. Drove over from Oxford, OH via West Lafayette, IN with Jeff, John, Michael T, and Pete. Regarding the post above, I'd never seen Herman's Hermits nor the Hollies; wonder if either group did some long jams w Bus Stop or Henry the 8th?

Yes the Hollies would jam out on Bus Stop. Here's a partial setlist from a Hollies gig I attended long ago: Bus Stop> jam> Bus Stop> drums> space> jam> He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother> Bus Stop (reprise). It rocked.
