My first live encounter, as a complete neophyte and grasping at straws to retain my equilibrium, while still a reluctant member of the armed services, after having just recently spent a year in-country Vietnam. Good friends and good company were invaluable in providing welcome reorienting of my attention. So, having spent the evening in just such an environ -- replete with sweet smelling grass, old-school liquid light show, and all around electric atmosphere -- who should cap the late-late evening and delight the unsuspecting throng but some unannounced female 'guest' venturing out onto the stage to join the boys in the band and offer a classic 'Lovelight' along with her pal Pigpen, as the crowd finally came to realize the 'Janis was In da House'. (Though imagining at the time that this may have been a fairly frequent occurrence, I've since noted very few instances of Janis performing with the Dead.)
I seem to recall my ticket's graphics as being identical to those I've found from an earlier series (2/5-6-7-8/69) of Fillmore West shows, featuring a cosmic runner treading upon the fringe of a mushroom, leading me to wonder if indeed these graphics were sometimes recycled. All the best ... and Keep On Truckin'!

    Release This Show!
An excellent electric set here preceded by a poorly recorded accoustic set. This show crackles with intensity. A superb Dark Star>St Stephen>The Eleven, etc. And a 20 minute Lovelight with Janis and Pig playing off each other. Come on! Share this one with the world! Ricko4
