    Great place for a show
Went to this show after seeing the 2 nights @ Giants Stadium. What a wonderful venue this was when compared to the Meadowlands. Great show & really nice song selection. I remember the Spanish Jam being particularly nice. An interesting side story: My friend fell @ Giants Stadium after the first night while crossing the highway to get to our hotel. He broke both of his elbows. We had both been working @ the same factory & I was on vacation. He wasn't planning on going to Star Lake, but since he couldn't work figured what the hell & took advantage of my extra ticket (my brother couldn't go). One of the fondest memories I have of this show is that people were gathering around my friend & trying to keep the whirling dervishes @ a distance so that he wouldn't get injured further. It was this kind of keeping an eye out for each other that I had always cherished in my fellow Heads that sadly eroded. People were even helping him drink beer & offering herbal refershements as well. Thinking back on it these 15 years later, I realize that this was probably the last time I was proud to be part of the Dead Head scene.I do seem to remember that the sound crew had to overcome what were certainly less than perfect acoustics in the venue & doing their usual great job.

    Dark Star Lake
What a difference a day makes! I mean, this first night at Star Lake was right out of nowhere for a '92 show. Jerry was on and playing beautifully, which I can't say about the following night, where he had trouble staying in time and remembering things like Slipknot! and other tunes. I've heard discrepancies between Dead shows before from night to night, heck, we all have, but never like this. The boys were absolutely on fire for almost the entire night, which made the crowd go absolutely nuts for this show. Some folks even printed up t-shirts with the set lists and "Dark Star Lake Amphitheatre" on them and were selling them the next day. The Scarlet>Fire, Spanish Jam>Other One, and a wonderfully played Stella Blue>GDTRFB>Around n' Around were particularly hot. This one from '92, not 12-16-92, should have been Dick's Picks 27. (You can listen to a crystal-clear SBD of the 2nd set at archive.org but, sorry, no downloading. You know, why did they go through all that trouble making people quit trading SBD's online if they're never gonna release anything worthwhile?! C'mon, now.)

I wasnt dissapointed! The East coast folks are really cool! I got to stay in a neat B&B near Uniontown PA. I was the only west coat head in the place. We had so much fun swapping stories. Oh yeah and the music...lol... ... Got a Dark Star out here with a nice space segment...I cant remember the girls name I danced with but man did you make this lost sailer feel at home!
