    My first show
I was a freshman at Brooklyn College. Midterm exams prevented me from attending on the 15th and 16th. This evening was the first of 138 nights that became the soundtrack of my life.

This being my first show I had no idea what to expect. We were pretty close to the front and I do remember NRPS opening the show? Can anyone that was at this show confirm that the boys were dressed in suits adorned with skeletons made out of sequins. As a veteran of around 100 shows that was the only time I ever saw Jerry in anything other than a t shirt. Also, I remember He's Gone coming later in the show although I may be remembering NRPS first set, as the last 30 or so years have been just one smokey haze, your honor!

Yeah, both the Dead and the Riders had Nudie suits on. Garcias' was by far the coolest w/what looked like skeletons & mushrooms on it. Weirs' was white, like the cowboy that he was. 1st time Bobby had short hair. The suits didn't stay on for long. I got dosed by these organic turds the Hare Kirshnas were handing out (I seem to remember Bill Graham saying something about them from the stage- a warning I think)....."Don't eat the Kirshna turds!!!!!!!!!!"

.....as I recall--I was a student at N.C.C.--at the time & was buying a surfboard at a shop on Hempstead Turnpike-Hobie surf & ski--it was a Weber skate-7'3"---excited for both events---people were gathering already in the early morn as I was drivin up & down checkin things out! Got my new board- went home met my buddies-got primed up--then the shows---good time & so close to home--at that time---the only bummer was the heat were bustin plenty people----the next time the Dead played -same thing--stopped playin for awhile after that---Great lookin suits the boys were sportin!!!!!!!!!!
