I was cleaning out a desk drawer and just found this ticket stub and it brought back a bunch of great memories... Branford was amazing this night. Of all the great guest performances the Dead had, this is right up there as one of the best. Many times guests would play with the Dead and it would seem awkward and/or the Dead would adjust to play the guests style. Often it didn't work. But not in this case- in fact Branford added something to the band that made them better in many ways, especially during Eyes and Dark Star. I feel lucky to have been at this show!

Bruce who??

I never liked going to Nassau. The coliseum is in a war zone. But they always rocked that coliseum. This night was no exception. One if my favorite second sets I have attended all time. Now Bruce could elevate the band, but no where near the level that Mr Brandord Marsalis could and did on this night. The Eyes was epic on this night, but it was because of his play with jerry. They played as if they had done so for years. And one really can't comment on the Eyes without mention Phil. He played with such a steadyness this night. He and Branford must be soul mates after that night. Phil was the designated driver this night.
