It all began here for me!!
Ahhh, the incredible memories! This was my very first show! I was there, had no idea who the Grateful Dead were, but pulling in to the parking tower in my dates VW bus, I knew right away that I'd found my clan! I'll never forget hearing Must Have Been the Roses and the girl who danced by me with roses in her hair. I never wanted to go home after that. It was a pivotal night in my life and to this day, I'm a loyal Deadhead!

This was my first show, of many shows, at the Coliseum and it was a wild and fun place. The Dead always raged in this place. The first set was incredible and long and the China>Rider smoked. I remmber Garcia doing a radio interview on I believe PLR and remarked how his voice had changed and how he liked it and how Althea was a favorite of his to play. Most versions during this time through'82 were the best versions, lucky us. The second set dedicated, again to Bob Marley. was sweet with the massive Shakedown to get the place rolling. There are many great shows from '81 that should be considered for release the band had matured with Brent being in the band for two years and they brought back Bird Song too.
