I'm so lucky to have been a part of it all. Got to see this one with my older brother Ben, who drove us from Phoenix in his Geo Metro. My friends got me to my first show, my Mother the second, my Father the third, and my Brother to my last two in Vegas. Funny how that worked out :) Good Memories!

What a show and night! I sort of remember it. A haze of yellow and dancing. Yeah, the misters were great. After the show we were the last to leave cause our Suburban got a flat and the coppers wouldn't help us. Never a dull show. My last show too!!

Maybe it was the scene or maybe it was the heat, but I thought that this show was a downer. I'm glad I got to see one more excellent Shoreline show the following week.

This would be my last show. Have to say the Vegas runs had hit a wall. Spent part of the 1st set back up in the stands and the sound was horrible. I could never understand why these shows were in the middle of the freakin afternoon in the desert in the summer. THANK YOU FOR A REEAAL GOOOD TIME !!!

bummed it was the last show i saw. i agree, vegas hit a wall. many more great memories. believe it or not we walked out the night before after drums, during Women Are Smarter. first time i ever did that in 95 shows.

What can I say about it? We had a lot of fun Fear & Loathing Vegas style. I went with my Brother who was at my first show at the Uptown in 80. He was at my first show and my last. He saw about 5 shows and I saw 69. It was an ok show but apparent that Jerry was getting on... Unbroken Chain was highly anticipated but was only ok for me. Had they broken it out several years earlier I think they would have been able to really do it right without sounding tired. Shortly after Jerry died I was thinking that it might just be time to move on in life. I mean for 15 years all of my extra time was dedicated to shows here and there. I felt kinda free to move on. But that lasted only for awhile and as time goes by and I think back to all of good times I had. I really miss the scene. The feeling after a really great show hanging in the parking lot at Alpine or Chief Hosa after Red Rocks... Telluride... Eugene...The Uptown... Syracuse... So many great memories! Nothing else will ever come close to those magical times.

Didnt really enjoy the whole scene that day, Got thratened by someidiots in the lot before the show as I was coming onto my doses,, Not good ! I was so freaked by the whole thing I literally ran out of my friends van I was by myself these guys some just local drunks or speedfreaks were going to jump me I had a sheet and some shrooms on me and some kine buds couldnt really talk as I wandered round the lot looking for some familiar faces but everyone was headed into the show. Had to hold all my goodies thru security luckily they didnt search me real good. Relieved , saw a not so good show,bad vibesthruout. Weird and drunk crowd. Gave some shrooms to girls I met from NY. Ran into a HS buddy Bruce Flohr who happenedto be the manager for Dave Matthews he gave me backstage pass ,highlite of show was shooting baskets with some Little kids with that hoop they had set up backstage. Last set was so so. Stopped at a legal brothel the next morning in Pahrump with my friend. Got drunk with some oreintal girl inside as I waited for my friend to do his business. Then broke down in Death Valley in 110 degree heat waited about an hour then some tow truck guy happened to help us. A weird weekend indeed! GD was on their last leg the scene had changed for the worse. Sad , very sad, but the say You Know Our Love Will Not Fade Away! This was, contrary to other's memories, a very good show, and in the lot people were saying best show in a year and a half. The sound was good, and we didn't freak out on weird drugs. The lot was fun, with no scary vibes at all, but then we had good vibes (and it helps to be a black belt/kick boxer) 'cause if it does get odd, I tend to laugh at it (or kick his feet out from under the idiot before he can blink). Of course Dead shows were never violent for me, only one idiot in decades of shows and if I'd yelled boo he'd have probably shit his pants.

nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile... What about the pitas thown up in the air by all the people on the floor durning unbroken chain... that was awesome. And guys there really is more to the band then just Jerry. The Just like Tom Thumb Blues was killer, and So Many Roads was great as well. the 2 o clock start was odd, but that first set was excellent in my opinion, the west la fadeaway was teriffic, jack straw opener and ramble on rose please this show was a treat. It did slow down in the 2nd set, but again unbroken was amzazing, and spanish jam into the other one could be heard anywhere anytime in my veiw. I had a great time and I loved the vegas run that year.

Sadly, my last GD show. Sadder still, the first show I ever walked out on after 50 shows. Maybe I was burnt (literally AND figuratively) from the wretched LV sun and 3 days of partying...but I distinctly felt a lack of passion in Jerry's playing. He walked offstage early, while the boys were still jamming before Drums, leaving an interesting 5-piece jam that soon petered out. I hung for a little bit of drums, then split and hung in the lot (parked next to an N2O dealer) before leaving. Sorry it didn't end happier, but then again after 7 years of stellar shows and beautiful times I cannot complain. After all, the GD were entitled to a not-so-great show, my last concert or not!

this was probably my best show. I remember the opening strains of Unbroken Chain and the crowd realizing what song it was and going nuts......yes, definitely my best show. I think maybe there were thunderstorms?? maybe that was another year..I always like a good Eyes of the World and also Jack Straw and it was just great. the weather was beautiful. it was also my last show I ever saw.

What a long strange trip it's been. Plain and simple. 33 shows, I am a changed woman for life. I miss you Jerry!!!! HUGS

Interesting the opinions filtered through the various personalities and experiences. This is why two eyewitness accounts of the same event will have marked differences of what happened. Now, MY take on the last Vegas show is that this one smoked! Jerry all alive and everything, boppin' around in his shorts, clearly lucid interactions with band and audience. Sugar Mag closer with the whole place-a-rockin' ! Unlike my usual pattern, I was well rested and fairly clearheaded by the 3rd show in a run, amazing how a little sleep now & then works wonders. Did see the Radiators and Hot Tuna @ the Aladdin theatre one night, midnight show...excellent, and a great model for how a casino could cater to the counterculture bucks. My girlfriend and I made a point to get there early enough to catch the full D Matthews set so missed the worst of the gridlock outside.

So Many Roads. I was front row, completely sober, and moved to tears in the final verses. For me it was Jerry's goodbye. I saw every show of that tour and despite some rockin space jams in Seattle with that alien pedal Jerry picked up for the tour, for me it peaked in this one song. It's certainly not the tightest version but it was as heartfelt and emotional as you'll hear Jerry in his last few years. He knew it was the end. Most of the Portland and Shoreline were sleepers and the latter was marred by more fencejumpers and Bobby getting pissed. I also had a concussion from falling down some stairs so perhaps that had some influence on my disillusionment as the tour wore one but my memories of '95 always take me back to Vegas. And most of the commenters are right in that it wasn't a great show by any means. But it sure had it's moments. And goddamn I miss those... Thanks Jer.

But all things must come to an end sometime. The last time I ever saw Jerry.

I remember the big pita fight in front of the stage before the show, and some guy got whipped on the side of his face. We about died laughing cuz he looked like he was in mid-sentence when he got hit. Of course he wasn't mad, he had a smile on his face after it happened.....it wasn't a painful fight, it was just fun.

Yes my last show too...I was a bit bummed on this show and said that's it I am not going to anymore shows....little did I know what was to come...Finally saw Furthur at the Hard Rock a few months ago....damn... I wanted to quit working and get back on tour....fun...great tunes.. boy do I miss the carnival....

terrible shows end of an era

Reading all the comments on this one have been interesting. This in no way matched the wild energy of the first times I saw them in 1989-90, but I remember it being a solid performance on a nice sunny day. I was pretty much sober for this one and was surprised by the groove and fire when I walked in during Jack Straw. And the sound half way back on the field was fantastic. Happy to have this one as my last memory of Garcia.

Although I didn't know it at the time, this was the last of my 137 show run that began March 19, 1973. I don't know why I kept going in the 90's but I guess that just like many of you, I felt I just HAD TO keep going. Had to try to catch that one show (or even one set) in the 90's that sparkled. Sadly, this was not the day, for me at least.That evening, Widespread Panic played at the Huntridge Theater after the Dead show. Panic saved the day musically for me.

This show was on my birthday. It was the only time I ever got to see The Grateful Dead in concert on my birthday. The next day we were on the airplane flying home, and the pilot came on the intercom and said "I understand we have a lot of DeadHeads on this flight. So please relax, listen to your tapes of the shows, and I'll try my best not to make this flight a LONG, STRANGE TRIP."

My wife of 21 years had died the previous December, and this was my first show since then, (and my last ever). When they sang "The Days Between," I had a strong feeling that this show represented the days between my previous life and whatever life lay before me in the future. Little did I know that there was a message on my answering machine, which I found when I got home, from a musician woman I had recently met and given an audition tape. We ended up playing music together, getting married, and have just celebrated our 23rd anniversary!!!
