While Saturday was hot, Sunday made Saturday seem like
a day in the spring time shade. Sunday the needle topped
105-,109. My sweat was sweating, man.
The Jam from Space into the Other One, where the Band
explodes with a freight train sized "on stage" call for a delinquent Brent, was the spatula that turned over my fried brain.
John: Ahh, Timmy? Could you please pull over and let me drive? There wern't any families of squid back there...
Tim: I'll pull over if you give me that saltshaker full of coke.
Bill: Will you two quit yapping and get us to the Green Room. My leg is aching like hell and I have to take my meds.
Tim: Nurse! I need my meds. Meds! Meds!
John: Damn it Bill, did you have to get him started again?
Took my sister and her 4 yr old who was in love with AIKO AIKO & turn on your lovelight...so we screamed for aiko aiko all the first half....second half started Bob pointed at us and played aiko aiko...my neice was dissapointed on Lovelight...she was use to hearing "and LEAVE IT ON" from the best of album...at the end of the song lol
At the time of this show, which I attended alone, I was in a miserable love relationship and obsessed about her throughout. One of the few times the GD's music didn't liberate me. Sad.
Just 6 months earlier I had followed the east coast Oct 1989 tour to it's last stop in Miami. (I followed a girl) Since then, I had relocated to the beach and this was my first road-trip with my new friends from all over, but we converged at the South Beach bars that winter. There was Miami Mike, Anne from Texas, The Electric Ballon Sisters, Trap Johnson n Cub (me).
I was the taper, and had the sturdy light-mic stand w umbrella etc.
These were my last shows with Brent. I had great location for my equipment and friends on the furniture blankets.
Does anyone remember the naked guy walking around the soundboard area during intermission ?
The tapes were my first DAT with NAK 300 shotguns and the Weight crushed. So Glad WE All' Made It
On the way out my friend said, "This really could be the last time." and sure enough it was the last time we ever saw Brent.
