Finally- my first show!! We watched Ali fight on a tiny tv in our seats during setbreak too- pretty wild night!

back in Boulder after the show, or maybe it was on the way back, or maybe it was when we got out of McNichols - it started SNOWING... the magic from the show was all over everywhere and the snow just seemed like confirmation from on high...

always thought that meant ride to denver...the 70's were pretty much a blur. i remember that time driving back to boulder after the show...everthing got all twisted and gnarly...i remember thinking that i didn't need to have the headlights on.

I did not attend. This was the day I was born, in Wisconsin. By the time I was born the Grateful Dead had been to the moon and back. But I still love their music no matter how old I am. Wish I would have been there and to all of the shows. Imagine the whole experience from the bands eyes and it trips me out.

Aah, this was a great show, even though indoors, very, very smoky indoors, and I think joints outnumbered cigarettes 2:1. Whenever I saw a show at Big Mac I would get so incredibly high--the smoke just would all collect under the roof and make its way from floor to roof. You wouldn't even have to light one up to get high, just breathe, sing and dance for 4 hours and you'd be feelin' pretty fine! Perhaps this is why the actual memories of the concert are pretty foggy! That must be why, when we were on our way back to Ft, Collins, the elected driver, headed south on I-25 instead of North. I don't remember how far we got before we figured it out, but maybe some of my friends will know,,, Racing down the hiway at 95mph, it suddenly starts to snow! And the snows is Beauty-ful!! Our visual senses being heightened by some yellow sunshine, the crystals of each individual flake glistened and glittered in the headlights. A TERRIFIC NIGHT:)

More than just pot smoke! ;-) "I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel. Can't win for tryin. Dust off those rusty strings just one more time. Gonna make em shine."

I was living in the mountains and a bunch of us got together and chartered a bus. The driver was a friend who did not imbibe except for the occasional Coors and we got her a ticket for the show. The price of the bus ride included a keg and assorted liquor. At the last moment we had extra money so someone scored a bag and I rolled joints and threw them around the bus about half the way to Denver. To top it off someone who shall remain anonymous was receiving sheets of paper - if you know what I mean- from San Francisco by mail. When the bus pulled into lot at McTurkey (sorry, I always hated the place) the guy directing traffic looked at the wild crew and asked the driver "Are all these poor people retarded." She replied, "No, we're from ____!" (I think I would rather not give away the town). During the space someone near me said "Enough is enough... You would think they would at least play their hits..." Much as I hated that arena it was a truly magnificent day all the way around.

Final 4 tracks of set 1 stand out, Lazy Light > Supp, Sugaree and Music. Set 2 starts off hot too, with Fire as a highlight, but from Estimated onward the set loses a little something. VG show, 8.5/10

In retrospect, I am very fortunate to have seen the band in '77. IMO, one of their best years, if not the best. It was the only time I saw them while Keith and Donna were still in the band. Musically, it's a great show. Of course it has great sentimental value for me as well. Let's just say that I left the planet for a while during Estimated (thank you, Mr. Natural).......Woke up back in my dorm room the next morning to snow on the ground. My buddy and I swore the band brought the snow because they had played Here Comes the Rain.

What a doozy for a first show, eh? The crowd was really fired up and acting almost as one giant organism.

You must have been higher than I was, because Ali didn't fight that night. He fought Ernie Shavers on Sept. 29, so I doubt he would have been back in the ring less than two weeks later.
