My first show and it was memorable. I'm going to see them 4/12/09 there too.

This was my first show also. We had floor seats that were not there. All the folding chairs had been thrown into a big pile so that everyone could dance. I have been to many shows at this venue (I live here), and never before or since have I had an experience quite like that. Looking forward to the show tommorow. Also saw them there almost 20 years ago exactly (3/31/89) so I have dug out my tour shirt from that show to wear. Peace!

I didn't get to many shows, but this has to be my favorite! There was a poor couple on a "date" sitting holding hands. When the lights went out, all the folding chairs ended up next to them. I think they left after first set. For me, it was a life changer! Let it grow and second set are seared in my mind. Would love a sound board of this show, my audience copy is great, but being my first show, a sound board would truly be a treasure!!! I had a blast and danced like I've never danced before!!!

This one is still memorable to me. I was moving from NH to FL on a motorcycle and I stopped in Greensboro to see this show. Somehow, I got into the outer confines of the venue and was able to press my ears and eyes against the main hall doors to witness a St. Stephen soundcheck. Sadly, they did not play the song that night, but did play it at the subsequent show in NYC, which I later received on tape. I also remember walking past a hotel near the venue and seeing Phil in the lobby. I was too scared to approach that scene and went back to my little motel. But this show connected my former life in NH to my then-future life in FL and I will never forget that.

I was on tour in my Jeep Renegade with a bunch of friends. During the day, we were involved in a car accident in Greensboro. It was minor, but we caused a lot of damage to the side of the other car. I felt terrible because the girl I hit couldn't leave town for Colorado the next morning because of the damage I had caused.Those old Renegades had these thick steel bumpers bolted onto the front. The end of the bumper was only slightly bent from the impact of the crash. Early that evening in the parking lot before the show, we decided to take some day-glo paint and write "Jaws" over the bent part of the bumper (by this time we had already dosed). Just as we finished, the police were walking by and noticed what we were doing. They remembered my Jeep from that afternoon in the accident. They asked if this was the same Jeep from the crash. I humbly replied yes. Paranoia took hold and I thought I was in big trouble. They laughed, kept walking and said "enjoy the concert". This was a good show. I do remember, however, being slightly annoyed by Weir's excessive slide solo during Rooster.

Actually..Mr. LamaGonzo,I hadn't just "shown up on tour" as you write in your infinite years of Deadhead experience. I had been on tour for a few years prior.....not that that has anything to do with the logic of this whole experience. After the accident, I spoke with the girl and expressed my remorse and offered any help I could give...limited of course...she was very cool about the whole thing. Ask anyone who attended, the show was average....and Weir's slide solos were slightly excessive at times. I've never had anything ruin my entire show. This show had some good jams and it included the St. Stephen soundcheck that I would see a few days later at the Garden.

I was driving with you on this tour also.For the guy saying whatever he is saying about bobbys slide. If you remember bob started using his new guitar the night before in richmond. This is why he goes of during the show. Suga mag was crazy bobby. John from E Sandwich Ya I survived. Sober right after the shoreline shows.

"Don't ever taaaaakkkkke twwwwwwooooooooo offffffffff anyyyyyyyy thinggggggg atttttttttttt aaaaa Deaaaaaaaad Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww." No truer words have ever been spoken.

It has been 45 minutes and I do not feel anything maybe I should take another - Questions that should not be answered but your friends always did. Never made it further south then Richmond or Hampton for an east coast show, strange.

Funny thing about Dave Williams above in the comments here is he had and I am willing to bet sill does have the biggest heart of anyone I knew back then on tour. He would do more for people touring then you would imagine. Not a mean bone in his body. So the comment about him feeling bad for putting the girl out for her drive out west I know he felt terrible I was there with him on many tours.

so I snuck the taping gear in this night .. we had 6th row seats, but wanted 25th row center (the ‘sweet spot’) .. so we set up there ..and waited ....... finally, the owners of the seats came .. “would you like 6th row seats for yours ?” .. lucky for us, they either didn’t care about the pristine sound, or just loved to be close .. the tapes came out SO killer .. the show was a short one .. have to agree with the post about the slide .. it reached heights never imagined (lol)..but the entire first set was awesome .. then set 2 .. we all awaited ... space was like pins and needles .. Candace hung mirrors from the racks, and had 2 mirrors on each side top of the stacks .. created a killer space ship effect !!! but alas .. no Stephen .. but I will say >>listen to that a Sugar Mag !!! not only the best I ever heard, I think the best ever !! (lol) ..clearly making up for last nights fake out ... nice Baby Blue encore “this one’s for the Dodgers” ... Bobby must be a fan ;-)
