    Happy Birthday from the stage
I went to this show with a group of gals from college (Oneonta, my senior year). They were all tripping. I drove us back to campus afterwards. I recall either this show (or could it be one in Rochester in '85) where some woman was trotted out to the stage and happy birthday was sung. Someone from the stage claimed that it was Bobby's wife, which was weird since he wasn't married. My first hearing of Iko Iko ever (live or other) and my first time hearing China Cat Rider live. I was thrilled.

    Wedding anniversary fake job
I believe this is the show when Phil announced that it was Bob's 5th wedding anniversary. A car pulled up behind the stage and a lady got out, went on stage and gave Bob a big kiss. She got back in the car and they ripped an amazing Sugar Mag. I don't think I was hallucinating. Also I don't think Bob was married.

My dorm was across the street. I then hitchhiked up to Buffalo to see The Who and The Clash 2 days later. Definitely no Santana.

A friend freaked out on L after the show and we had to keep him surrounded in the parking lot after the show so he wouldn't hurt himself. One of the best china/rider's I ever saw. I agree no santana.

Santana did not open the show that night. One of the great things about Grateful Dead concerts, starting in the 70s was that you very rarely had to tolerate an opening act. They gave you real value for your money - two sets of the best rock & roll band that ever set foot on a stage.

We came as crew from Oswego to this show all meeting up and Dancin'. Lots of space at the Carrier Dome but Carriers air handlers could not handle the tourching that went on that night.Great show and half empty venue. If the four way isnt' in the way I believe The Band opened up which was the first openr I had seeh since The Good Rats at Holender stadium in Rochester 79. Tom K

stevie cWe rented a Ryder truck, bought a keg of Molsen's Golden, and headed out( 43 of us ) from Bath, NY to the Carrier Dome. The guy who drove up there, was indisposed on the way back and I drove home in that Electric yellow submarine!! I wouldn't have traded those times for a million bucks!!!!

Santana did not open this show, he opened the dome up as first concert, and the Band was 1983 opener for the dead. Most memorable for me - Jerry's rythmn guitar playing while Bobby's solo during FOTD - just amazing. I still listen to this over and over again. The whole solo (Bobby, Jerry's and Brents) is one of my favorites. - Jerry forgetting the the last verse of either birdsong or China... can't remember which one but then just standing there and ripping up the jam. - not knowing what Throwing Stones was at the time, but visualizing a freight train during the solo.. I loved this version over any one they did in the late 80's.. it was a spacey song. - watching them kill GDTRFB - Phil dropping bombs. - almost breaking my neck trying to get off my chair and down to the floor to boogie to Sugar Mag's and feeling Phil's bombs in my stomach. - wondering "I didn't know Bobby was married." I also remember this show being a late add ... and getting tickets at the Dey Brother's counter (skipping school) and getting 10th row seats just a few weeks before the show. One of my greatest memories of being a junior in High School was this night.
