Well never mind ...

I just purchased it from Amazon instead. My TV-set is compatible with the NTSC-format and I just learned how to make my DVD-player region free. Hopefully it shouldn't be any problem.

:-(

Just find out that Shout are unable to ship this DVD box to Sweden ...

I really dislike all this when it's not possible to purchase or take advantage of offerings because I'm from Sweden ... :-(

Blu-Ray

I think the GDM is the only one out in Blu-Ray. A lot of people have been asking for all GD video product to be available in this format. Good luck with the rehab, err, retirement there Robert.

Blu-Ray

My first experience with the much bally-hooed Blu-ray, was, in many words, stunning, eye popping, finally, my faith, blind and numb, was finally rewarded with interest. In the midst of an early unplanned retirement or rehab, I tested the parachute. (Always pack your own by the was). Snapped the shrouds and landed lightly amid the working class dream. The second or third act, but nothing like the ending on my agenda
So I bought the home theater amp I had wanted, the best for my situation (living space-wise) but having every little doo-dad, no compromising, no settling for third or fourth best. Research, read, learn new concept and new technology to long resisted. Bought the TV that for a short while a well respected Consumer group called, at this time, at this price with all these feature's built. The Best on the market.
Yow, this dog is shaggier than I thought. This was i lieu of almost forty years of a job, at first, was challenging, physically active, paid good and was more fun than not. Change is inevitable so this was the gold watch to myself. It took me quite awhile to get everything assembled and hooked. Much frustration, recrimination, regret and good old fashioned self loathing..,Last night, I plugged in "The Dead" movie Blu-ray version I've got it in VHS and DVD and was in no way ready for the EYE POPPING HOLY MOTHER experience. I am now a true BLU-RAY Believer and would consider replacing all my Dead DVD's with Blu-Ray. I always thought the Dead were about being and delivering the best possible sound. So if it comes to a vote, I say Blu-Ray all the way. Thanks, Bob

Is there any chance of a release in region 2 format of these DVDs? That would be a great opportunity for us here in Europe indeed!

Still No Promised Land on Ticket To New Year's :(

Why didn't they put the Promised Land from 12-31-87 back on to the DVD? Its one of the best Promised Lands ever, to me, coming right after a really good Bertha and its disappointing every time to watch the DVD and have it not be on there. I know they cut it out of the VHS due to time limitations, but there should be plenty of room on the DVD. Bummer.

Blu ray part 2

Another thought:

the Blu Ray set could retail for about the same. Why? Well, you would need a third to maybe half the discs to produce. Blu Ray holds WAY more content and a regular DVD.

Thanks,

waiting for Blu Ray

I, too, am waiting for Blu Ray. If the film isn't good enough to be able to get a hi def transfer... just let us know so we don't wait. But, when I think of the quality difference, I think "Blu Ray is what Owsley would have demanded".

Keep us posted!

Went for it.

I'm eating some crow here. I ordered this release, they tossed in a copy of "The Grateful Dead movie" on Blu-Ray for 7 bucks. I'll just hang on to all my other copies for my collection, it would be hard to part with them.

Some things I have no problem selling on Ebay or to the local record store, but my Grateful Dead stuff. It is all sacred to me, along with my Phish, Allman Brothers, Neil Young, STI, etc.

hey coconut

I am seriously with you on all your comments on the reasons why not to buy this (the cashing in, the dearth of blu-ray releases, the having them already, etc.). It would be great to be able to grab it all at once for newbies, but I had it all. However, after some consideration I decided to go for it. Why? What I decided to do was to sell the collection I have on eBay to fund the purchase of the box. Finding it $20 cheaper ($79.99 total with FAST shipping) on amazon.ca (thanks comicbodger, ahem I mean - cosmicbadger tehe) helped. I lost my original (read pristine) copies of GD Movie and Dead Ahead years ago, so that helped to make the decision easier as well (I had replaced them with used copies, but they were NOT the same as the originals I had - dammit my fault).

And now to the details, for those that are interested (and I know YOU are), the 1/2 hour Lemieux interview as well as Blair's booklet essay reveal several tantalizing small clues of what the future may possibly hold (read hoping, enough qualifiers for you?) for future video releases. Potential shows mentioned in David's interview are 7-16-90 Buffalo, 6-22-91 Chicago (quote 'very good shot of being released') Blair's essay mentions Sunshine Daydream and the Europe '72 Copenhagen and Bremen TV stuff. The bonus video included is 10-2-87 China>Rider, Man Smart, Woman Smarter (WHY NOT 10-3-87 pre-drums Maggies Farm>Cumberland>my favorite LL Rain>Terrapin with Jerry in great form WHY, WHY do you do that?), 7-2-89 FOTD, 7-22-90 Hey Pocky Way, and 6-22-91 Shakedown.

Blu-Ray?

I love any new GD release, but this one does not get me fired up. I did not order this one. I have most of these movies on DVD already. I'm holding out for Blu-Ray too, when it does come it will be amazing. Anyone who has Neil Young's Archive Vol. 1 knows what I'm talking about.

The sound and 1080 is amazing, it will blow you away. I sort of felt like they wanted to cash in on this release, after all, it's only a bundle package in a nice box. The doc would be nice to see, as well all 5 new performances.

I'm going to save my coin for the Blu-Ray, it will come sooner or later. In the meantime, I'll look forward to next weeks Dave's Picks and Bonus CD arriving in my mailbox.

Keep jamming.

Blu Ray?

Is there any word on whether All the Years Combine will be released on Blu Ray?
