Grateful Dead

Welcome to the Sunshine Daydream Boutique.

On August 27, 1972, fresh off their now-legendary European tour, the Grateful Dead traveled to Veneta, OR and reunited with the Merry Pranksters for a common cause – to throw a benefit concert for the Kesey family’s Springfield Creamery. A stage was erected under the hot Oregon sun at the Olde Renaissance Fairgrounds, tickets were printed on the fronts of the Creamery’s yogurt labels, and the rest is history…

Does anyone know exactly when this is shipping? I know it says the 17th but most everyone ships out on friday so it gets to you close to the release date.

Worth it? (edited)

In answer to the question asking whether the extra $21 for the 40 page book, bonus documentary and tie dyed slip case is worth it...absolutely! I would feel somewhat short changed if I had the basic version of this set knowing that the deluxe version exists, but would still appreciate that it is released either way.

I've seen 12 page tour books go for $30 bucks alone a pop.

It's interesting that with the inclusion of Sunshine Daydream, that '72 has become by and far the most represented year for official releases at 35 different titles. In fact, 1972 is more represented than everything released from 1979 through 1989 combined at a total of 31 titles. It's also more represented than 1964 - 1969, which is 23 titles, or 1990 - 1995 at 16 titles.

Look- a surviving box set!

The gloves worn in the "Look Inside the Box" video above are obviously intended to protect the media, but still, it creeped me out just a bit when I first saw it- especially in contrast to the casual attire and nudity on display at the event commemorated by the special edition.

Kinda had a forensic vibe, know what I mean?

41 Years to wear the ball & stripes

With a great fondness I think back to that day. August 1st was a real up. I danced in the last row of the movie theater in Albuquerque just like I danced in front of the stage in Veneta 41 years ago on this date. I was 18 again for a couple hours. High kudos to Dead.net for reprinting t-shirts. Now who else remembers the "Reddy Kilowatt " t-shirt Babbs was wearing that day. I think I saw one at a "Garage Sale" at Keseys. 41 days, 41 nights, 41 years to wear the ball and stripes. Why I remember little Sadie that summer of 72 in Oregon.

T-shirts back in stock...

Uh-oh. Wilfred won't be happy.

Really they should have said on here that they were "Out of stock" rather than "Sold out".

What were the original colors offered on the 3 men t-shirts?

Correct me if i'm wrong, Oregon dead was white. Eagle & skeleton tee was brown? And hippie dancer was blue? Just noticed they have these back in stock with all size runs? Only front image would like to see the graphic on the back of the first 2. Don't think hippie dancer has a graphic in the back. Anybody know about these & do they ship when ordered? or does it ship September 17 ?
