Very Few Rules, Revisited

Observant souls will note that the Terms of Service content at the bottom of the page has been replaced by a great deal of legalese. I'd encourage you to read said legalese, as it states that you agree to be bound by it by continuing to use the system, but in general I don't think it says anything unusual for sites run by large media companies, or anything to be unduly alarmed about. Expect more diligent inquiry by your mod into the copyright status of posted art, perhaps.

But anyway, these were the original TOS, and as far as I'm concerned they're still pretty much what we actually live by, so for the sake of archival maintenance:

Very Few Rules

1. You Own Your Own Words. In practical terms this means you own the copyright on your original postings, and also that you, and you alone, are responsible for their content. It also means that except for brief quotes for discussion purposes you should not post the work of others without their explicit permission.

2. The moderators and system operators reserve the right to remove postings as necessary for any reason, from general housekeeping to abusive content.

3. Be respectful and civil with your fellow participants. Over 40-odd years of Deadheaddom, experience, mileage and perspective vary a whole lot, and we want this to be a hospitable place.

4. Respect your fellow participants' time and attention. Think before you post, and post in the relevant topic.

5. As the old adage says, never say anything online that you wouldn't want to see on the front page of the New York Times. Rule #1 notwithstanding, as a practical matter there is no guarantee that anything you post here will not wind up on 600 blogs, Homeland Security's database, Digg, or your prospective employer's Google search. Post accordingly.

Chatroom-Your Thoughts Please!

As you may have noticed, we've just implemented a much-requested chatroom. It is quite simple and has few fancy features, but for the moment we just want it to work!

Anyway, have at it, and post your thoughts, feature requests, effusive thanks to the tech team, etc., right here. Thanks!

Report Show, Setlist, Song Errors Here

We're getting a lot of folks asking where to send corrections for assorted errors they've found in the show archives. Maybe they didn't really play "Saint of Circumstance" that night. Maybe we have the band at the Meadowlands when they were really at MSG. Maybe the boys are simultaneously in Philadelphia and Phoenix.

Whatever mistakes you've found, this is the place to report them. Please include this information to make it easier for the tech folks to deal with:

The date and/or URL of the show in question (for example, http://www.dead.net/show/june-21-1980)

A detailed description of the problem (for example, wrong town, wrong venue, no "St. Stephen," etc.)

The source of your information (for example, DeadBase, notes on your tape, "Hey, I was in the front row and I'll never forget it!")

Thank you!

(Note: once we've made the corrections, we will delete the posts to reduce confusion and redundancy. If your post disappears, that doesn't mean we're not Grateful. Quite the reverse.)
