Last of four featuring the complete 10/22/71.

Also in this program, a salute to Owsley "Bear" Stanley, an utterly unique figure in American history. He made the acid that fueled creativity in the music (and other) world for years! And he dreamed up the Dead's "Wall of Sound" PA system.

The interview took place at my studio in January of 1991. You can read it in my book Conversations with the Dead.

Enjoy!

Week of March 21, 2011

First of four featuring the complete 10/22/71.

This was the third show of the tour that introduced pianist Keith Godchaux to the fans. Ron "Pigpen" McKernan had been in failing health for a while, and the band really benefited from having a strong improvisational voice on the keyboard. (Pigpen returned to the band in December and stayed with them through the Europe '72 tour before his health issues got the better of him.)
