Days Of Dead

Loose Lucy
Hint:
A song whose arrangement changed quite significantly in the same calendar years
day1_u9awv7hwm7_looselucy.mp3
Chicago, IL, International Amphitheatre
Loose Lucy was played in its slower arrangement throughout 1973, as well as the first version of 1974 (on 2/22/74), but was changed to the faster version heard here on 5/17/74 in Vancouver. This is the arrangement that would be recorded for Mars Hotel. When the Dead brought the song back in 1990, it was in its slower 1973 arrangement.

Many thanx for another 30 Days of Dead. It's brought a little bit of sunshine to an otherwise grey and rainy day here in England. Grateful.

Got this one before my morning coffee. Holy cow!

Thank YOU Dead.net for a real good time! :-)

P.S. Anyone hear the China Cat melody at about 2'30"?

No, I did not, but my wife came out of the shower yelling " how many more times are you going to play ""Thank you, for a real good time"""? I replied " Until I get it"!! Obviously, she's not a Dead fan and I had to explain to her that it's November again...

I saw what I think is the first download (Loose Lucy) for 2019's 30 Days in the comment section, but I don't see a home page. Link?

As the opener, this nifty number comes galloping out of the November 30 DoD gate with much hope and excitement. I'll say thank you right now because I know the rest of the month is going to be a real good time, as it always is. Peace and good luck everybody.

Aside from the more obvious transition in tempo that allows a pretty quick zoom in to the right year, there are so many little subtle variations that make paging through the shows and listening for "the right Loose Lucy" a special treat. Thanks again and I look forward to the next 30 days!

This funky Lucy definitely helped warm up these cold mid-west winds today. Have fun all and enjoy.

Thank you to the Grateful Dead staff and family for once again providing us with 30 DOD!

I love this and always look forward to the game we play trying to figure out the correct show. Hints and clues are welcome but please remember to not post the answer to the group.

Happy Hunting!

Happy Bday D-Rae!
And a hello to all of our annual gathering of 'usual suspects'....

Time to dust off those rusty springs just one more time, and download, listen, excavate and enter our answers.
Thank you David and Dead.net , for another real good time.

Welcome back 30 Days of November participants! I woke up unaware that today is November and the contest was on!
I saw the band play this song twice, almost a 3rd time before I landed on Dave's choice. I sure had a tough time with the calendar mechanism.

and put on your best listening ears on! Thank you Mr. Lemieux and DeadNet for a REAL good time! November has become one of my favorite months of the year. So happy to see many of the ir/regulars back this year too(present company included).

The years go by faster and faster but the one good thing about that is it's November and that means another 30 days to be Grateful for!

Set sails and we're off...

Thanks for reminding me about the relisten app. I didn't use it today but remember how it helped last year!

It was to be my very first 30 Days of Dead entry but I was struck down by the calendar picker. I typed a year and hit enter thinking the calendar might go to that year. Instead, it took that as my entry–just a year with no month or day. Oh, well, maybe better luck tomorrow. At least I figured out which show it was.

Agreed - it seems each year there is a re-learning curve to how the site works. I hope I didn't submit an aberrant entry in the same way! Was able to get it submitted properly (I think) by going to 2109-x-x then changing the 2019 to the correct year. But the calendar system is just cumbersome - we should be able to put in a year and get the calendar just for that year. Anyway, tomorrow I'll try to just enter the date as year-month-day and see if that works.
Good luck to all - and thanks for 30 Days of Dead!

I did some more experimentation. It turns out you can just type the date with dashes (e.g. 1960-01-01) and the calendar will jump to that date.

Ahhh, The 30 Days are back. You know I'll love the Grateful Dead till the day I die (and beyond). There is already snow on the ground here in the land of Cheese. The birds on the high wire are telling me it's time to go where the climate suits my clothes. Thanks for the 1st of 30 Days!!

    followup to factman

Agreed. Love the Dead, but it's quite clear....money, money is the show now. The iceberg was melting, but with super-duper limited releases...making it that if you don't fork over the money really quick, you might get lucky and see the release on eBay for 500 times the cost. Happy with the annual DoD stuff. Stopped trying to win a few years back. Guess on my own, and smile (while I'm listening).

There IS NO Stanley Theatre of Pittsburg PA.....

Seriously, how far low-class are you going to take this each year ??

Which Richfield Coliseum is the correct answer if you play a Richfield song ?

Coliseum, Richfield, or Richfield Coliseum, Richfield ???

Have some respect for the people that continue to want to participate in this.

Most of those people buy a fair amount of merchandise every year. The 30 days is progressively next-to-impossible to win, given the absurd need to stump almost everyone with at least one show that never appeared in Deadbase, or some studio outtake.

The prize(s) are next to nil.

    Stop dumping on the loyal.

( edited afterward ) ....my original point being there IS NO Pittsburg PA ( without the h, separate from Pittsburgh )

Don't worry about the exact venue.

I don't think they are picking the winner based on the exact naming of the venue.
They are most likely picking the winner based on guessing the date.
They may have the name of the particular venue printed a certain way when they give the answer a day later but that does not necessarily mean the name is "right" or "wrong".
If you guess the date right and choose from the various spellings/wordings of the venue in question I bet you are in the running to win. And they pick one winner from the many many that get the date right and choose the venue of the performance in question regardless of the exact wording of the venue.
