To November, let's do this!!!!
.......is this thing on?!?
well now,, you know IT'S ON!!!
aaaaaaaaannnnnnddddd, Weir back........
Nice start of the 30DOD. No crackle in Jerry's voice and Weir's guitar is a dead giveaway. SWEET!
....happy to be back for another spectacular 30 Days. Thank you very much to you Grateful Dead, to Dave, and to you”all wonderful DeadHeads!
So happy to be here with y'all! Welcome back everyone!
Great song to start us off and running. Thanks Dave! Nice search and I nabbed it!
Got it before I even had my coffee.
It's about time you set these up as .flac, but this mp3 is only 128kbps - a bit of a comedown from the 320kbps of previous years!
Great idea. Love Jack-a-Roe. Why can't non-USA Deadheads take part in the competition?
She walks around and Ain't nobody's fool
I don't want to be looking a gift horse in the mouth here. But. is this the new definition of high quality? Oh, how our standards have crumbed! (dramatic enough?) :-) Thanks Dead.net!
I love my morning coffee and guessing the show. Thanks in advance for a great month.
This sweepstakes is offered only to legal residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) who are located in the united states (excluding Puerto Rico) ... LoL.. I am out!!!
I knew that 30 Days of Dead was on the way, but the way 2020 has been, you never know what might happen. I woke up this morning and anxiously checked my inbox to see if there was an email about it, and YES, here we go again! Thanks so much for doing this every year, Dave! You've started a real tradition which a lot of us look forward to all year. Happy November all!
I agree with wilfredtjones. 320 to 128 is basically going from the highest to the lowest bit rate. I hope this was just a mistake and will be rectified.
This month couldn't come soon enough! Welcome back everybody. Is this a 1st time appearance for ol' Jack A Roe? More than one 1st appearance at play here.
smallz - I did a search in my files going back 2010 and it is a first time for Jack-A-Row!
This version of Jack A Roe made me think of being in college and driving down to this venue to watch these shows, I was pretty new to the Dead then but was hanging out with friends who only listen to the Dead. My indoctrination was going to class during the day, then the drive to the venue for many of the nights during this stint. Thanks for this trip down memory lane!
Here's to another great month of Grateful Dead.
wow been needing this for a while
setup my database weeks ago
nice to b back
Glad to be back. I hope all you brothers and sisters are being well and staying safe.
YEAH!! 3rd try about 10-15 mins. Right away I narrowed down to 2 yrs by JG vox & keys. And then the way the drummers hit the subtleties is different if you veer of to other years. Some excited loud audience member requests in the between song minutes that follow this song. And the band makes some vocalizations too not really audible. Including one member talking right at the end of Jack-A-Roe. That little bit may help you compare diff versions.
Don't read further... don't scroll down... I will not give away the answer I promise... just a comment....
They seem like this town/area on the 30 days contest.
Another November...smell of patchouli...heads hanging' in the lot..."pretty bracelets, just a dollar"...tie-dyes, batiks and Indian dresses...miracle tickets...various dead boots to fill the air...Mr. Willie...Grilled Cheese...and great anticipation before the start of the show...so glad you made it.
Welcome back everyone...so look forward to the month of November...good luck and stay healthy...
Well you've given away the fact it's a Brent era show Doug 😃
I'm in the UK and I think I have this from Doug's clue about someone shouting out a song request after JAR has finished.
I mean, come on you won't get that in the first set mate 😃
Thanks again. I always play the heck out of these wonderful selections. Are there any archives of past years?
First Day of DOD....first Jack a Roe on DoD, (I would've sworn it was done before),....first time at this venue on DoD..and first time Dead played at this venue....just a little bit o trivia
Last year I only got to play a few days. I forgot to check to see who won on the last day I played. A few weeks later I got an email asking my address so they could send me a calendar. When I checked dead.net, there was my name as the winner. I have enjoyed my calendar all year. Thank you so much. I love this game.
Wooooooohooooooo! And it's my birthday!
Good to see the familiar faces? here. We've all been waiting for this since March, or maybe since 12/1/19! Odds of 11/3 selection being US Blues?
Very happy to have the 30 Days back. Thanks again for sharing all the great tunes, and a huge thanks to the band for allowing your shows to be recorded and enjoyed for generations to come!
Almost forgot what day it was. Thanks Dave and the Dead! Looking forward to the next 30 days!
I'm with wilfredtjones and Jimson G, certainly appreciating all gifts in these 30 Days(!), but also hoping that this 128 bit file was a blip on the horizon and that files from here on out are 320s. T'would be much appreciated, Dave!
There were other years where some 128s slipped thru, but if my memory serves me well, the situation was corrected.
Ususally get 320kbps. This year only 128kbps. I won't bother this year. Email subject line I got said "Free Hi-Res Digital Downloads Every Day" I was hoping it was finally upgraded to FLAC. Instead quality has been downgraded. I know its a gift and thank you, but I don't do low grade 128kbps anymore.
In an otherwise dismally dark year. Thank you so much again.
To a great start. Hello again to each of you, and to all of you ' Usual Suspect's', that partake in this annual festival of Deadology.
As always, a Happy Birthday to D-Rae! Hope all is well with you considering all the storms that continue to invade in your region this season.
Thank you, sir. Welcome back!
I skipped last year because I was super busy. Glad to have this back! Much needed right now! Good to see all of you!
we use the same saying in my native idioma (on ne regarde pas les dents du cheval qu'on t'a donné)
O f course 320 Kb is better. Hoping "wiskey in the jar" for the 6th?
Thanks Dave for sharing all this good songs.
Nice, rolicking guitar. A first - both for 30DoD and for me (don't recall ever hearing this in a concert).
One problem (in addition to the bitrate issue): what's with the date entry? It pulls up a calendar for Nov. 2020 and I had to manually go back hundreds of clicks to get to the right month - and I messed up and hit return so inadvertently "entered" the contest before I had put in the complete date. Must be an easier way...??
Anyway, off into the sunshine. Enjoy y'all!
Hey! I remember that same situation in previous years about entering the date using the calendar.
The easiest solution I found is don't use the 'calendar.' Just type in the numbers for the date in the box that opens up. I think it's below the calendar, if I remember correctly, but I'm not looking at it now, so just look for it.
Hope this helps!
yeah bummer. if you click on the date entry part until the calendar goes away you can enter it manually instead of scrolling through all the years.
Wow. The sound quality went from 320 kbps bitrate to 120 kbps?? Ouch.
I thought you would at least maintain or improve to open source FLAC lossless as web bandwidth gets better.
Anyway, thanks for throwing decent quality free bones over the last years but I'll pass on low quality freebies.
Sooooo.... Is there an unofficial 31 Days of the Dead this year? Can't seem to find it.
Hey! The 'Unofficial 31 Days of Dead' starts on December 1st...after 30 DoD is over. Ed has done it every year for 10 years, so I suspect this year'll be no different. But it seems I never know until the last minute when he posts it. Look for info about it closer to the 30th of November. Meanwhile....enjoy the ride.
Thanks for clearing that up for me about the unofficial 30DOTD. Looking forward to Ed's selections. Thanks to the Dead for these daily selections!
Happy days of dead. Last 2 Dave's picks and today's show were all shows I was at!
I hope the 128 bit was a mistake.
Great Version of Jack-A-Roe. I am gonna guess between 1982-84......
Sorry I missed out on the Daves Picks posters. I usually get emails
November is something to look forward to with the 30 Days of Dead....Loving it! Peaceful November!
smokin version, thanx !!
