don't get hung up on the recording anomaly at the start of this, focus more on other parts...
some unique setlist twist this night...
oh yea... Happy Bday, D-Rae!

Hate to gripe about free GD music, but 320 is where we need to be for Mp3's. 128 is just an insult to the music. Could you please re-up days 1 & 2, and return to 320 as the standard? Please & thank you! :)

Bobby, Donna, and the gang sound really locked in here. Listened to many a LLR on this gorgeous fall morning, and this one is upper echelon for this time period.

Incredible show we've visited in the past.

This is not "griping" about "free" music nor looking a gift horse in the mouth. Friends don't let friends listen to neutered and emasculated music, nor do horses.

As for free, we have all dumped more tens of thousands of dollars into the greedy maw that is Warner Brothers for a long long long time. We have paid the way for all things Grateful Dead for over half a century. They have lived like kings off of our wages. So little droppings of minuscule files that have 90 PERCENT of the information stripped out is far more of a disservice and insult to the sound The Grateful Dead produced and the love and treasure the supporters proffered for decades than a service or "gift."

This is for shame. How dare you downgrade quality after announcing upgrade? There is no excuse. None. You clearly don't know who we are or care. There is a reason The Dead let us tape---they knew we'd paid for it, deserved it, and we'd do a way better job than the clowns at record companies who can't play a note.

Not going to apologize for my thoughts or couch them in accommodating terms. This is a disgrace to all involved. The Dead lost their soul when they used lawyers to interfere with Jerry Garcia's will, subverting the very essence of what the mythological meaning of the name they borrowed, but 128 kbps? In 2020 era vulgeris?

The e-mail I got said "30 Days of Dead Returns! Free Hi-Res Digital Downloads Every Day In November" All I am getting are 128kbps which is the lowest downgrade possible. What is going on ?

Is this mystery only for american people?
Or why is it absolutely necessary to name a state when only US states are possible? For an european guy it's not possible to send his answer.

Yes Claus exactly; I don't remember when it all began (2012 or 2013)
but each year it's a pleasure each morning to wake up and waiting for the coffee looking what is the song of the day.
I am not consulting archives to get the answer, I just try to be near the answer, for instance my answer was 79 for Jack A Roe, and this is enough to jump in a brand new day...welcome to many new companions.

Let me guess, "The Suits" had nothing better to do in this already awful year, so they decided to make it even worse!

128 kbps?

Really?

I always look forward to this time of year because of this wonderful gift you have given us.

So goes another of life's little pleasures in a year when we all need as much good cheer as we could find anywhere it could present itself.

No thanks, I'm done with this and not interested in it anymore. I have also unsubscribed from the mailing list and will not be purchasing anymore from this site. Let those people responsible know that they lose business when they pull crap like this! It's the only way I can truly make my voice heard and make my words mean something.

I will add it in to all the other sad examples of how anything and everything is eventually ruined by $$ and avarice behaviour!
-----------------------------------------------
( EDIT) Perhaps all the "Negative Vibes" as you put it helped them to err... correct their "cough cough" mistake and make the files available in 320 kbps again!

I'm glad for everyone here that they'll now get to hear the music as it was meant to be heard.

Those first couple had such a nice country twang. Interesting how this one evolved!!! Sometimes the digging brings us along so many lovely shows. It makes the search even more enjoyable.

Probably one of my all-time favorite songs....making 2020 a little better. What a joy to listen to all the different ways Bobby sings us love songs written in the letters of our name....

I registered just so I could point out that 128kbps is not high resolution. It’s not even close. It’s free, so it’s not like I’m getting ripped off; but it’s also super-low quality, so whatevs; not interested.

[EDIT] Day 2 is 320. All is well. Nice. {/EDIT]

I missed Jack-a-Roe yesterday and downloaded it today along with LLR. Both are 320kbps according to the property details.

Thanks to Watkins73 with the good news! After reading the comment, I re-downloaded today & yesterday's files and they are indeed 320 bits. YAY!

I wrote earlier that lower bit rate files were occasionally given in past years (rarely), and that the powers that be responded to correct the problem as they did today. Remember folks, we are all human and the humans on the other end of this endeavor put a lot of effort into getting these tunes out to us. They are human and make mistakes. I understand the dismay at the 128 bit files, but please, let's all remember that patience and understanding and contacting the right person can often solve situations and defuse our assumptions.

Peace!

You know they're only tryin' to make it through November.
Beautiful version of Looks Like Rain. Took me a while to narrow this one down. Might be a bit of a challenge for some. Enjoy!

Found a photo of the Rosemont Theater, a big rose on the building's facade, quite similar to the rose on American Beauty album cover, and Nov. 1st being the 50th anniversary of the album's release, I couldn't help but think, "Hey Dave, I see what you did there.."(~};-)

nice version and not too hard but took a bit of searching which is what you want right? here's a tip : don't try to match up versions while the washing machine is going. had to give up last night and resume in the quiet. was starting to think i was off my game and try a different approach , or i missed it last night in the drone of the washer, and should go back and review, but as the mantra goes just one more show, and lo and behold it was just three shows more. never surrender!!
now bring on the next!!
ps. we all know how much 2020 sucks but to all the disgruntled goats, chill man. first day and 128? 320? there's gotta be bigger fish to worry about out there. this is supposed to be a happy occasion, lets not bicker and argue about who killed who.
oh look they even fixed it, huh whatdaya know.

I think for the second year in a row I didn't realize it was November until the 2nd. I've got the 30 Days Archive updated and working at

http://deadroots.net/content/30-days

Every one of the 30 Days downloads since they began back in 2010 is available for download. Each year is zipped up in an archive all its own and waiting for you :-)

Happy November!

Got there eventually, glad I had enough time even to listen to some years that I knew weren't in the running. Took a cue from the beginning and one from the end using one of last year's key indicators.

They did not exactly hand this one up on a platter. I guessed the year right at first then strayed for some reason in my search & came back later. I had to listen to that ending to get it. Positive feedback.

I like the next song. A little warbly tapewise but always a favorite to listen.

Tough (for me) today, finally found it, enjoyed the search. Man did I hear some great versions of LLR. Should have gone with my gut from the word go. Love this exercise!

Took way too long looking for this one. Should have listened to my first mind.

Very happy about the files being upgraded to 320 bits.
