Hmmm...unfortunately there are two glitches/skips in this file at 3:48 and 4:17. Other recordings I found don't have the skips, but I think Dave only uses recordings from the vault, so those must have the skips(?). Too bad about that. ;(
On the bright side, this is a groovin' bluesy tune and another 1st for 30DoD. And always great to hear Brent!
Had to come around a 2nd time.
A nice, rare treat! I got this one by randomly clicking on dates. Was about the fourth or fifth one.
you sunk my battleship. missed it my first time around too. this version had me scratching my head and then the glitch had me second guessing. then the venue selection made me make a quick double take. but if i hadn't had to do all that i'da not run into a sweet mind left body jam or the good times at the show after this one -check that one out-interesting. 27 more days like this i'll be super stoked.
Got this one to match up on first try today. Thankful because I have better things to do than listen to 40 versions of this song (sorry Dave!).
I spent more time on this than I should have. For those of you scratching your head on this one. Keep chipping away, it's there. Besides, the amount to sort through is not huge by any means. Could have been a ruthless task, had the tune been a more prolific one in the Dead's repertoire!
It all made sense when I got there. Glad to wrap this one up early and I found a beautiful Morning Dew along the way but not there. Just ride the wave until you find it!
always start my search with deadbase/every time played.
cant find it
been using deadbase since it was a flyer at shows....cant find it listed
what am i doing that is gonna make me feel foolish when u tell me
also going show by show since 81 havent seent it yet
did jerry make it disappear
Try searching Deadlists for the song. Deadlists is a little hard to navigate, so here's a clue or two: Click the word "Search" in the left-hand column and type in the name of the tune in the Song One field.
I'm not sure how important this fact is but the song was also known by another name.
Hit same wall. Found video with Never Trust, then went to dead base for that date, found a song by different title, and then confirmed via archive that it was the song I was looking for, checked setlists with different song title and there were 42 versions of which to sift through. Will check when home from work.
never had such a good time in my life before.
that was interesting...once i knew a short trip down relisten.net did it.
problem for me was song title was different on diff. sites, and even different a couple times on the same site.
love the organ at 12 seconds in
maybe the hint could've included the other title of this tune since DeadBase doesn't use this one
Try setlists.net. I got hung up comparing the vault recording to an audience. Also went down the Mind Left Body rabbit hole mentioned before... Gosh life is rough
Alternate song names remind me of the difficulty of uploading and then organizing the titles of Dick's and Dave's Picks. Confusion reigns.
MaryE you Rock!
Sure appreciate the 320s!
I also have a request. There are two glitches/skips in today's song file at 3:48 and 4:17. Are you able to check with Dave and see if he's aware of that and if there might be another recording without the skips?? I'd sure love it if that could be re-posted for us sans glitches. If not, I'm happy to listen to what we got. Again, thanks!
Never trust a song title
You're gonna see some Good Times, searching through all those ;)
Must've had some great times, but glad there were only 42 versions or so.
That was harder than I thought it'd be.
I think I say this every year but its a good thing I have no life. Spent too much time on this one. Thought it could be divided into 2 distinct eras but it was a little blurry and I started at the wrong end.
My hint for those of you in the know, who have subscribed, is I was at this show but Dave was not and he said as much.
Too many hints spoil the kool-aid. After enjoying the tune, I started searching for the song, and that was the fun part. I still haven't made my pick yet. I do enjoy the hints but best to make them mindbender(ing) (Confusion's Prince) and not too obvious, which most of them are not. Enjoy the jams!!
I'm so glad thirty days comes around this time of year. Now that I'm getting up at 3 am it gives me something to do.
It's very possible, I have all sorts of methods, thus did not take too long, I honestly didn't understand the clue, thought I did, but didn't? Found another process.
I'm probably speaking into the void here, but does anybody know why the 30 days of dead stopped being released on Spotify? They're basically the best dead releases on Spotify, because not only do they select deep cuts and hidden gems from throughout the Dead's career, but they never chop up songs that belong together (china cat/rider; scarlet/fire or even estimated/terrapin on the 2014 album). I'm really disappointed that the 2016-2020 30 days of dead have never made it onto Spotify and was wondering why
↑ What ThePoshMushroom said.
when Brent gets a Little Light! Thank you. I also love a little good-natured Dead tricksterism, so thanks for that too.
Long live 30 Days Of Dead!
Hunted around a bit this morning, gave up, came back and read a few comments. New tact for search and then threw a dart at the list and first one I listened to was it...
Glad to get the upgrade from 128kbps that was first posted, to 320kbps.
I assume the email that went out Nov 1 which said,
30 Days Of Dead Returns!
Free Hi-Res Digital Downloads Every Day In November
was incorrect ?
Dead.net has always issued 320kbps mp3s as their high quality offerings. It's never been anything but that since 2010 when this whole game started. Have a Grateful Day everybody and Thanks Dead.net! :-)
I learned a lot today about the variation in lyrics, especially Brent's changes to the end of the song by October1982. BTW, some set lists on the web note this song on 10.12.1981 but it's really "Good Times" and not "Good Time Blues". Be well everyone and vote!
....played organ like this more often!!
that plinky keyboard sound was in full effect by this show, not here though...
...& how bout those encores, aye?!
Glad I went back to listen. What rockin' fun encores! And a sweet taste of gravy to top it off—that was special!
I liked hearing this one back in the day during the cassette years. Fun show. You can really hear the band on this recording.
Man I really enjoyed listening to the intros throughout the years on this one!
Any chance you can put a code word of song name in the title instead of #$&*%)xNMlmn)__=+.mp3
its easier to organize library in iTunes...
thanks for the free tunes... Peace and Health to all
this year they do have wacky tags, must be their catalog system or something. they have used the song names in the past. even threw in a couple of dates a few times. oops. i just change the name of the file to the song title when i save it to my 2020 30DOD folder
but this year its code names. maybe to throw us off like on this selection.
hear that everybody? were using code name from here on out!
But right now I feel like hell!
Back and forth, back and forth... ah, finally. Thanks much to Dave (aside from those darn tape glitches) as he got the nice, somewhat uptempo speed right (but it messed me up big time trying to find the source) and now we have a good clean recording of this somewhat extended version with sweet playing by Brent. Not being familiar with the venue, the location messed me up too. Ah, what the hell!
Thanks to all who voted - let's enjoy the ride!
I always really enjoyed Brent's singing! Thanks for sharing this gem. Made my night. Much more enjoyable than watching election results. Gonna get to ring that bell 27 more Days.
This source is not in the Archive., and as Randy Jackson used to say, "You're a little pitchy." I remember this show, but I wasn't there.
This is one of my top 10 with regards to sound quality. The MP3 just doesn't do it justice I'm sad to say
