Day 4: Nice n Early
Took a minute, fun noticing the nuances in all the dupree's throughout the years like length. Tricky cuz it was kinda never far from the repertoire. Now i'm rhyming hope im right and keep it 4/4
doing something right
found it rather quick considering it could take a while. perhaps all these years are starting to pay off
There Isn't Really Very Far To Go
Duprees is one of my all time favorites, so I'm looking forward to today's festivities!
This Dupree's
Pretty sure today's song was from a show I attended. One of those under the radar shows that's pretty damn good.
@revolutionaryh…
This show was the very next show after my first show -- and that was a really good show to have for a first show. I won't say where or when just yet since the contest is ongoing.
Scarlet/Jack
I was pretty sure the Scarlet/Jack was from 1974. That is where I started on Achieves and then went to 75', 76', and so on. I never found it. For those of you that found yesterdays songs, where did you find them? This is only my second year playing, but I love it!!!
No Wonder Your Reason Goes Bad
This one took a little digging (and thanks to the person who mentioned Relisten yesterday -- using that significantly increased the efficiency of my search). I could tell right off from Jerry's guitar tone that it was one of a few years -- those are my favorite years. My first instinct was for the year after what it actually is, but when I couldn't find it in that year, I fairly quickly found it in the year before that. The intro told the story.
Went the other way
Guess that makes me a backwards Fool - I started the year before, got further and further away but went to the next year and there it was. And on a significant personal date, no less (but, alas, I was nowhere near this show). Gotta love that old-timely minstrel organ sound (and the wah-wah - rockin'!).
S Michelle Smith
You can't go wrong with DeadBase IX........my go-to source and it has NEVER let me down!!.......if you consider a 33% success rate never being let down......LOL...... And the hints from other players are also helpful, occasionally. Back to my previously scheduled smoke now.
From the top
Almost thought I'd past it by. Should have started from the other end.
Jelly roll will drive you stone mad
After you listen to about 15 versions of Dupree, it's no wonder your reason goes bad.
This one cost me some time, but the right show finally crossed my mind.
Glad it didn't cost me my life.
I'll tell you the reason I LOVE the 30 Days if you want to know
Cause friends of mine, we still have 26 more Days to go.
What a nice surprise!
Thanks Dave, I never get tired of hearing this song. It's such an upbeat and happy tune. It really makes me smile and dance around...........Hey, wait a minute! This song's all about robbery, murder, heartbreak and loss!! What was I thinking??
I guess it's no wonder,
my reason went bad,
this 30 days has driven me stone mad.
I only wonder if Baby ever got her gold diamond ring and someone to treat her with style?
Tomorrow’s Guess
I’m guessing tomorrow’s track will be New Minglewood Blues. Time for a Bobby song.
RockN' Show!
Attended this FUN FUN Show back when I was 25 and living in Albany. Rockn' Dance Party to end this Great night.
that took a while...
i think it was the drums that helped zero in on the year....
1st year participant
Just recently found a Deadbase Jr. In a trunk of “cool junk” assembled in the 90’s and stuffed in a closet. I’m 1 for 4, but MAN this is FUN! As the day goes on, the comments give away the answer. It’s still a great way to listen to alot of great music!
A walk through Duprees..
... across the years. Hearing how that envelope filter pops in the beginning of the 1st guitar solo really clinched it for me. The old folk tale about the judge (or the hangman etc) retold in so many different ways.
Happy Huntin'
Out of 150 shows I saw from June 1987 through May 1995 I never caught a DUPREE'S. Luv that song!!! I guess they only played it 8 times in that time period. DOH!!!
