he's gone indeed
nothing left to do but sync this one up and turn it up. loud. gets real cool after the halfway point. makes ya feel like those goonybirds are starting to kick in. another very familiar time made it a rather quick search.
keep em coming!
Not my thing
Post-1980 Dead is just not my favorite, but seems like that's almost all we're getting now. Where's the 60s & 70s?? Guess I'm just a geezer.
Ooh, nothin's gonna bring him back...
Since most of the releases come out of the 60's and 70's maybe it's getting harder to find those gems.
If you listen close you can hear what comes out of space.
So what gives?
Is that to say we're scraping the bottom of the barrel now? 'Cause that's what it sounds like.
Revbish
Relax, cantankerous old man! Part of the allure of the Dead is how you can rediscover them repeatedly over the years. One man gathers what another man spills. The last few years I have been craving '80's Dead myself, maybe because there is such a glut of officially released material from the 70's. And while '80's Dead may not have the precision and consistency of '70's Dead, it is still very exciting to listen to IMHO. Don't worry about what you want so much and try to hear what others get out of it. You might be surprised. You ever been surprised before?
Love that outro
They took this tune to some cool places in the outro parts. Some teases maybe as to what comes later. Thanks, this had a nice sound.
THANKS!
You cats rock for bringing back 30 Days of the Dead. Making my day, .... every day. Ye olde Dead drive is workin overtime. Thanks!!!! ps Todays was a good'un. (Bobby's tone ;) )
@revbish
After all the official releases and ten years of 30dod I wouldn't doubt it unless you want repeats. Couple days ago we had a song from a show that has been in 30dod before a few times and there are only four shows left from that month that have not been released.
gone gone well he's gone for good
Didn't think I'd be spending the better part of an hour listening to the back half of a couple dozen versions of this song, but you just never know what you're gonna get into when you log on lol. That's part of the excitement, right?
There's a cool (and rare) surprise in this show that only happened this particular year.
smallz - cool & rare surprise
And what I didn't realize until today, that cool & rare surprise only happened 3 times, and all within the span of a month! I always learn cool things during 30DoD.
@WeepingWillowGtr
Four times by my count!
@bl002e
I believe your 4 time surprise, is not the same one smallz and WeepingWillowGtr (and now I) commented about. Quite a month though!
Smile Smile Smile
This dang venue name again
That is all.
If somebody asked me....
"How's yer 30 Days Of Dead goin' this year?"..... I'd have to say, "Definitely fair to MYDLAND so far!!!" I really liked this one. At times Jerry sounded as if he was laughing through the lyrics, and at other times sounded like an old Tomcat in the alley howling about his broken heart or balls, or both. Space/Drums is FANTASTIC in this one. Thanks Dave!
Rat in a drain ditch
I went in the wrong direction and was ready to sell my soul for the answer. But I finally figured it out.
less an less
I don't know if they are scraping the bottom of the barrel yet, but every year there are less to choose.
Impossible to narrow down...
Impossible to narrow down...
The golden ticket lies in Jerry’s voice
From there you can figure the year (hardest part sometimes) then your battle is past half won. Deadbase Is super helpful, but not if you are in the wrong year. So many subtle differences. Hardest part is getting past (not getting trapped) into what you think you know, and listening to frames you are unfamiliar with. That is the beauty of this 30 days of GD sweetness. Searchin’ for the sound. Let's hear more of those early 80's hidden gems Dave!
Just got it. Good hunt for…

A must have with these , great resource.

How is today's "hint"...a hint?
Just sayin'...
nothin's gonna bring him back
Trying to find this one might steal your face right off your head.
After listening to about 30 versions I finally got it.
Now there's nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile.

Phil's tone
Was the giveaway for me on this one. Still had to do quite a bit of sifting though. Still waiting on the obligatory curveball. Ace's Studio anyone? How's about a '95 soundcheck? :-)
Sock it to me
Sock it to me, Baby, and I’m not takin’ ‘bout Martin & Rowan’s “Laugh-In”, can you dig it? Far out, man! Zippy asks, “are we having fun yet?”
30 Days 30 Years
They usually do a fine spread of the 30 years in 30 days. Maybe say, 65, 75, (maybe even 92 due to illness) 95 have less statistically to offer as far as number of shows per year. So there are bound to be some repeats of years in the quiz. Or they might just hit all the years in the quiz or almost. But expect your favorite year to come up real soon! And then there are the strange rehearsal, soundcheck, demo curveballs they love to throw our way! Never know what is next. That is what keeps me coming.
Nothin' Left To Do...
But smile, smile, Smile!
Sheer determination needed for this one.
Now that I've looked through some of the other comments, I have no idea what many of you are referring to. Maybe some explanations/elaborations tomorrow?
They sure did some spacing out on the vocals toward the end there... kinda disappointed that Dave didn't include all of the space. Maybe something better coming???
Some other musings about recent song selections: Ship of Fools - appropriate for the election result, don't ya think? And Feel Like a Stranger, definitely getting set for some "crazy crazy nights" still to come. Now Gone - maybe mourning the passing of Alex Trebek? Irreplaceable for sure. But, so was Jerry. Life goes on. And we have these wonderful memories and great recordings to carry us through.
Smile, smile, smile!
More than one...
rarity in this show.......excellent performance in an underappreciated year.
bingo
Good golly that took along time but I did it.
