I went through so many dang later years versions of He's Gone and failed to hit the right year. Glad to have a little bit of a break with this one

Right off the amount of audience in the recording gave the year and teasing truckin there was only a couple choices.

Couldn't play yesterday and my streak was broken. Just when I wanted to search out that Stranger, the storms blew through Chicago and we lost power until this morning. I'll find this Casey Jones though and get back in the saddle.

was hidin' out from me, and I almost pulled trigger on another version just a few days away, which is damn, damn close, but just off enough...

Back on track, always nice to listen to the evolution of Dead tunes over the years. It all makes me feel very nostalgic even if I boarded the bus after this one started chugging down the track!

Not much to work with here, and only 1 of 3 source tapes has the complete song, which doesn't sync worth a damn.
Either I'm starting to figure out how this searching works or I'm stumbling around and falling into the right answer. (I hope)...a good workout for some really nice early Dead..Thank You Dave

due to incomplete lists I struck out hunting and pecking in the dark. Listening to the song evolve I knew it had be in a certain week and there it was! Took just about all day though... What better way to spend a rainy day

Never knew a thing about this show. Now I do. Some fun accounts out there ..... how did they ever make it to the next show on time?!? Been there - done that lol.

Anyway, great ride so far, Dave -- thanks as always.

A strange little blip where he's a fret off or so. That "almejita" is what gave it for me. I like the Motownish Don't Bring Me Downish guitar intro for this era of CJ
Thanks 30 Days crew!

that's exactly what I was looking for. After listening to multiple versions I couldn't exactly tell if it was a botched fret or tape speed glitch, but when I finally found it - WOOHOO!

I too was sidetracked by a sleeping switchman. A little digging got me to the right place.

DeadBase 50 helpful in finding this. Not listed on setlists.net nor in earlier DeadBases. And the different speeds make the sync difficult.

Thought I heard that KC whistle
Moaning sweet and low
Thought I heard that KC when she blow
Didn’t connect KC moan with Casey Jones until today. Also, I have a guess who is playing organ on this version, and that, too, was a surprise if I’m correct.

definitely a high time for the band while they were sitting on top of the world playing Casey in the morning dew. So fun to hear this one so close to its embryonic journey. Thanks Dave!

It was eluding me for a bit but you know it’s there in a very specific time frame. I had all my eggs in one basket and then smartened up with my searching for the sound. That one off chord is the dead giveaway for sure!

This one's fun even if you get it wrong. Watch your speed indeed.

to a portion of a particular year, but I cannot find this on archive.org or relisten.net for that matter. I give up and guess a show that isn't available for listening on archive.org. I'm sure I'll kick myself tomorrow morning : )

It's there. We all went through the same - check out some of the comments from our well seasoned buddies and you'll find a way.

Guess this was Dave's answer to those who were carping about all the "newer" selections this year?
Cowbell!! Glitch!, that singular organ tone - all helped for this one, even if syncing was like wrestling a wet fish. Damn good thing I looked at a couple of different sources for the search.
This was fun! Just love the way this version starts, with the guitar(and drums) like that locomotive gathering steam and just chugging and chugging 'till it's really goin' down the track - woo hoo!
(And BTW, the rest of this show is fun too). Thanks!!

the light applause at the end, ie sounds like only a handfull of folks in attendance, thus highly unlikely a bay area show...
&
2 lil spots of feedback within the 1st 2 minutes...
...got it on the 1st try for the 1st time this year!!!

but I still couldn't see where this little critter was hiding. Nevertheless it's obviously a rarity and a recording of a timeless classic. Having the ability to listen to it after 51 years is a treat in itself, but actually being able to download, own and share it is the real cherry on top. Thanks to Dave and 30DOD!
