Days Of Dead

Black Peter, Candyman
Hint:
A double dose of Garcia/Hunter Dead songs, one each from the band's 1970 masterpieces
day12_75aslmfxnh_blackpetercandyman.mp3
Detroit, MI, Easttown Theatre
This is a rare instance of two Jerry-sung songs back-to-back aside from the more obvious ones like Scarlet>Fire and the interesting combination of 1/2 Step>Franklin's

Maybe my first first try ever but opened right up to this one.

Zeroed right in on it after having listened to similar banter from another show just three days ago.

Seems to me that in prior years the cover art was available earlier than this. Anyone know?

Yeah, they're not really pushing the 30 Days this year like they have in the past. The cover art is only found in the image carousel at the top of the front page. You can find it pretty easy on my DeadRoots site - It's at the top of the Daily Tunes section. Click on the tiny image and download the bigger image that pops up - it's 1750px square and I upped the DPI to 300.

I just poked around and it's here, too:

Wow that one was easy to narrow down.
I listened to more of this one and it qualifies as a great moment in this year.
Lots of other good nuggets in the sets.
This era is an important transition period.

I've long said that a box from this tour is warranted. A lot of great shows, and there should be great recordings. There's a boot box, so why not an official one?

That was easy for more than one reason. Nailed the year after a few moments of listening. Had to do a double take at yesterday's winner as my name is Adam and I live 20 miles from Syracuse. Close but no cigar.

"Hold on, gotta fix something...".
That "slight technical bummer" may have been a blessing in disguise, leading to a fairly unique sound in some of the following tunes.
This show was a real discovery for me, a period with which I was pretty unfamiliar, with the band really getting it together before the monster tour(s) the following year. And I have to echo the sentiments of the Phil Phans - the fullness and impact of that bass is just awesome - and lots more to follow later in the show, with some interesting, unexpected (for me at least) transitions. A show that I'll be listening to in the years to come for sure.
Thank you, Dave!

I realize it has been discussed, but I really wish the hints were more show specific. I don't understand the point of these "hints" when the song is already known. Oh, well.

Yeah most of them basically are useless, stating general facts that already are widely known. Oh, well....

I have been playing this game for years. In the introduction paragraphs it says, โ€œYou know your Ables from your Bakers from your C'sโ€
As long as I can remember it says that. I have no idea what it means...
Please shine a light on it for me ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ„๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ’ก

Well that is embarrassing... itโ€™s only a line from the most popular song they ever released.
I guess I learned my lesson!

    Ables, Bakers, and the C's

    Lyrics from Touch of Grey:

    It's a lesson to me
The Ables and the Bakers and the C's
The ABC's we all must face
Try to keep a little grace...
