went loooookin for-a Playin...
a Playin in-the-Baaaaaaand...
there's a 2fer this show that's a wicked pissah, preceded by a cool bust out... ♤
Saw the title & thought I'd be tripping thru many a show, but...
something about this one was wedged in my memory. Took 5 minutes to find it. Will have to check out some more tomorrow.
Playin
I got it on the first try.
PITB
Like Deadbass36 wrote a few days ago: I remember this show, but I wasn't there.
took a bit of playin
but i kept going and found it. was beginning to think i passed it over, but when its there you know it right away. so sometimes it pays to keep on going.
some mighty fine playin to add to the collection
more of this show is definitely worth a listen
Day 12 - Playing In The Band
I know its between 12-31-71 and 2-17-79. I hear caterwauling :)
Exactly
Exactly
Hall of Famer!
One of my all time personal faves, got it on first guess.
Definitely one of the great versions of this AWESOME song.
I take this trip on many bike rides :)
This show goes off the hook.
Hang Loose
This one was surprisingly easy...
storied venue
Awesome PITB today. Thanks to the powers that be for this great month so far!
Had to cue in to the first few seconds of this track narrow it down. Wicked strong show overall.
Dave
Your math was right on, thanks! You get an A+ for today.
Won't win again
Like others, I got this one on my first try this time.
Born Cross-Eyed
"Seems like I've been here before,
Fuzzy then and still so obscure,
....
Think I'll come back here again,
Every now and then from time to time" ~Bob Weir~
Rob Bleetstein's favorite city to play shows from. I'm thinking he grew up there.
Oh, I just read it was Long Island. My bad.
Penultimate Evening For One
What a show! One of the best EVAH?
That sound
Love this version! The screaming pinch harmonics Jerry is able to pull out of this guitar during this period are one of the things that make it so distinct and special.
PITB
Every year Dave sneaks a song into 30 Days that ends up getting released the next year. I think this show is it.
Great Version
Clues seem pretty relevant this year.............
Surprised how quickly I got…
Surprised how quickly I got this one too. Definitely some good clues if you listen all the way through and listen to who's playing. Narrowed it down very quickly!
got it
Went through about 2 years worth before finally arriving at the correct choice. The key for me on this one was definitely Weir. Good luck all! :-)
Finally!
Now this is the Dead I've been waiting on. Many thanks!
"Wang" Dang Doodle, All Night Long . . .
Haven't played 30DOD this year - believe it or not, too busy . . . And when I opened it up this morning dew, and saw I had to choose from amongst the 587 times this song made GD's setlist, almost turned around and leave and walk away. But Dave's clue is on time, and Weir's the key. Venue's history is interesting, it's not the same today as it was way back when. Would love for this show to be included as a pick for '21 - it's just so raw and pure . . .
why can't I create one album
Does anyone know why no matter what I do in iTunes, it keeps splitting downloads in to 2 separate albums?
RE: irhc76 create one album
It might be an issue I've come across were some tracks get marked as "part of a compilation"
Go to individual track in question and right click and choose "song info".
Check each track individually and make sure the following check box is NOT checked:
"Album is a compilation of songs by various artists"
I know how annoying that can be. Hope that helps!

Playing in the band, let's do it again
Playin in the band
The clue is dead on. I almost didn’t need to do the rest of this stuff but..Another way was I timed the length between Donnas two vocal outbursts and made sure they matched. The brb to the audience helped too. I was able to find it on relisten and archive just had to narrow the search according to the clue. Bobby sounds so young.
Stellar
Or should I say Inter-stellar!
Donna, yeah; Jerry, yesssssss!!
The sheer other-worldliness of his initially meandering expositions in the extended central section just builds and becomes absolutely blistering (with some added spaciness as I allowed the matrix Archive version to go out of sync with this as it went on, providing a, shall we say interesting effect).
So good to have this version! It's a follow-up - or more accurately a prelude - to the monster in the second set of this performance that Dave bestowed upon us a couple of years ago. Is there perhaps an official release of the whole show in the works?
Onward, space fans!
You can count on me Bobby!
I'll be "hangin' loose" till the next number. Here's to hoping this playin' in the band we all do everyday will help keep the pandemic away!(that and face coverings of course).
I wonder -
if the whole show is in the vault fermenting....
How...
When I read the comments/hints, and someone says they got the right answer, how do you know you have the right answer before the answer shows up the next day?
How...
rasta5ziggy When you're good, you're good! Let's just say you've got to be "in sync" to know...
.
.
You know when you know!
Every performance of the song is different and has its own subtleties and nuances. There are always specific points in the song that you can identify, whether it be a vocal clue (hang loose) or maybe a sour note. It’s a cool feeling when you identify a unique moment and then match it to from whence it came. Good luck and enjoy the ride!

“Relax, you’ve got us all night long.”-JGarcia
I missed the first 30 DoD, but have played the guessing game each offering since, now 282 guesses in, and it never gets old. There’s no other band that could create this circumstance, no other team of archivists who could make it so fascinating, and of course, no other fan base that could be so beautifully tribal, loving and grateful. I tip my hat to you all. You all make it so worth the trip. “Relax, you’ve got us all night long.”-JGarcia
2nd...
leebobs emotion.
WoooooOoohohyayayayayYeah
Donna gives it away so you can hang loose after

friday the 13th
I have been anxiously awaiting today - my birthday in this crazy 2020 can only imagine what great song will be delivered. Yet I can't see it...... 2020 strikes again
Winner winner?
Hi, this is probably not the right place for this but- unless it’s a different Zac that got the correct pitb, I won the contest for the 12th. Should I be expecting an email from
Dead.net or anything?
lumberzac winner
Hey Now Zac,
Congrats on winning. I know recently from having won a couple times before that they will reach out to you after the contest is over. You can expect a swell calendar. I know I enjoyed mine. I think I enjoy a little more the Big Rock PowWow RT I won back in 2010 for my correct selection of PITB. That was a rush! :-)
Have a Grateful Day and Good Luck everybody!
How do you know if you have won?
:)
Screen name/handle same as winning name?
I thought they listed the exact screen name/handle when they announced the winner. Not just a first name or abbreviation of the screen name. So if you entered when you were logged in under screen name lumberzac then that should be the name that shows up as the winner. But check and see if any past winners can give you more info.
cool jazz
this evolves nicely.
