Hint
A song that defined the Dead's improvisational sensibility since it was first played more than 50 years ago, even though it went several years between being played

Dark Star Venue
Hmmm. A possible venue name discussion coming around again?
There's a release from this run,
and dead.net's archive for the date agrees... My sucker bet: going with the venue name from those LOL
Venue conflicts
I think we get a venue conflict every year. There is a Dicks pick from this venue so I went with that as being official . I was also wondering , why do we need to even pick a venue , if you get the correct date that should be good enough, oh well
WTH
I'm going with DeadBase. Have fun everybody! :-)
Venues
Yeah, someone really needs to remove the duplicate venues with slightly different names.
Yesterday stumped me, but today...

Venue names
Yes, we go thru this at least once or twice every year. There is an official name to this venue, but as I recall, the last time we had a song from here the "official" answer was the other shortened/alt name. In my mind both names are correct, but ultimately I'll bet it comes down to what is written on the tape box.
The archive
Dead.net's own setlist archive lists the name in one particular way. Not saying that will definitely yield the correct answer, but it's a safe bet. Totally agree that the various options in the dropdown need to be consolidated. This venue does not have 5-6 different names...
Is it this one or is it that one?
I've gone with the name listed on the band site versus Deadbase or Relisten only to have the official answer be the latter. So it's anybody's guess what Dave will come up with.
Name that venue!
I did a little digging and the different names were definitely in different eras, name changes are listed with corresponding dates on the interwebs.
Killer show!
Moons and Stars
This unfinished Star would be completed later on in the run. Funny thing is, I heard the ending before I heard this beginning :)
Love the encore tune of this show!
This is actually the first…
This is actually the first time I've ever heard the encore song. I'd never even heard of this before today.
It's an old Beatles song.
...
Just win baby!
Spin the wheel and pick a name
Unexpected
Whoa - this one gets downright primal toward the end there (with Phil's bass just walloping, though the piano lightens things). Confused at first by the throwback organ, but Jerry's voice is a giveaway. And it's always a trip delving into the universe of Dark Stars! As for the venue, sheesh - different names on different sources for this date; I went with completeness.
the show
just call it the show at the place.
relisten has a fuller name than deadbase
went with the theme i saw posted earlier more is better
dont want to giveaway but it is impossible for that place to be several of the names listed simultaneously in the same physical plane
just sayin
Location anxiety??...
Me too. Picked one, but the number of ridiculously similar choices was amusing. I don't know from jazz, but this one sure sounded jazzy to me. I had forgotten all about this particular year. Big thanks to sbd man D.H. for this one! Good choice thanks Dave!
The names the game
Wiki has a great history of this venue. From past experience you gotta name it as it was known on the day of the concert. Love how relaxed this rendition sounds. Phil's in fine form, and the notes just flow from Jerr's hollowed-out flame-maple guitar, but on second listen it was the keys that gave this one away, only one can tickle the ivory like (one of) this (year's winners namesake) . . . that narrowed it down a bit
Dark Star crashes
What a cool day for Dark Star - the Leonid meteor shower kicks off tonight.
Thanks to all
Someone's comment about venue name gave it away for me and I'm OK with that. Gave me time to listen to that 44 minute Mountain Jam by the Allman's and 33 minutes of He Loved Him Madly by Miles Davis.
There is a clue to the venue name ... if you know where to look
My forces have torn lose from my axis in terms of the venue name .. but I did find a clue as to how it was considered to be called at the time. Now that we have an answer, I am editing this post: I used the 12/16/92 release to guide me.
stub
I'll go with what's on the ticket stubs I googled, but that is probably too logical.

Shall we go, you and I while we can
Through the transitive handful of venue names?
Regardless of the venue name, I believe I found the right version.
It's been a very fun 16 Days. Looking forward to the next 14.

Wow... very relaxed & drawing from all eras
Tried this year right away for some reason and it was correct. 3 tries.
I hear a little bit of all eras of DS here although. Some players are playing parts from different years. And yet it is of course right in the present too. They do not rush it. They allow that lilting groove to happen. And they're not afraid to take it "out". Surprised me for a year that was iffy for my tape collecting & concert going ( I had some really good moments in this year though). There are some other DS from this year that are worth checking out too. Wish it were longer and JG stuck with it for another verse before drums but oh well.
Don't worry about "right" and "wrong" venue names. Just get the date right and choose either venue name. The name of the venue the site lists in the answer tomorrow is not necessarily them stating a "right" or "wrong" name of the venue.
Gotta hand it to Vince
I would've sworn there was another piano player but nothing matched up.
Only Vince was on keys.
What a show!! some nice aud tapes too
Bass great; Lesh Philling
Garcia goes for a smoke about 7:50, but Reddy Kilowatt lives up to his name and smoothly leads the ship right into Billy and Mickey's rocks!
I was there ---
My ticket stub is in a box that I don't have access to tonight, this one has been a stumper in the past. Hmmmmm
You can only enter once per day... Good luck!
Does this come up each time we enter? I haven't seen it before. I am curious if I inadvertently double clicked.
Didn't take too long to find...
but I lost track of time listening to some stellar Dark Star's and some amazing shows....grateful for the ride....

Lovely Stuff!!
I was there on 12/12 when…
I was there on 12/12 when they started Dark Star and 4 days later when they finished it. I just remember thinking "they started this at the show the other night???" I was surprised (but not surprised) as this kind of thing totally makes sense in world of the Grateful Dead. Also the anniversary of the amazing show at the Thelma Theatre in '69!!!
thank you
just want to thank all those involved all these years with 30 days of dead, it is much appreciated
