The file tag for the download says: "day18_ojh8bys3la_jackaroe." But it is not jackaroe. It is indeed Truckin' and Terrapin. And a fine duo it is! In fact, I think I'll listen to the whole show tomorrow since the comments sound like it was stellar all around.
....if only the extended sounds of the little terps scurrying off was retained.
another quick one. spend the rest of your time checking out this show. some really good stuff in there. like at the beginning when they play that one song and then couple songs after that, then especially that one near the end. real good stuff
very weird. jackaroe is file name but truckin / terrapin play.
maybe some foreshadowing???
Yes this venue. And... then BOX! And then... another BOX!
Love this year. I think the night before this had a really nice version of a JG classic in the 1st set.
I'm here for all the sustained excellence we can handle! Pretty quick find today with that clue.
I like days like yesterday and today when we have song combos to help us narrow down the field a bit (and a big clue fromDave today). Yesterday's combo was only played twice:
4/1/86 (the answer, w/ an awesome Box encore!) and
3/29/84 @ Marin vets Memorial Coliseum.
I listened to both shows yesterday as a result of the search and boy, was the crowd pumped for that Box!!!!
ON to hunt down today's gem ...
There's nothing wrong with this file, but it begs to be, uhm, extended. Can anyone recommend a good editing tool for Mac.
Actually, check 6-29-86 for another version from Alpine Valley. Didn’t pop up in my searches either, but I was there, and Jerry was telling me I had too much too fast.
Anyway to fix the digital glitch 2:48 into the file??? (-16:25 on the streaming link above)
Language, Bobby! Language ;)
Find another source and listen to the beautiful ending to this Terrapin...dreamy!
What a cool and timely day for Terrapin with a new crescent moon last night. Coincidence of psychic phenomenon? You decide.
Well, wang dang, that's a sweet combo.
A spoonful sandwich, kinda
that was so eloquently played on this Terrapin, so I'm disappointed it's not included here, but it is definitely familiar.
not that many to choose from but cant get any to sync...must b missin something....gonna try it the other way. thought i had it but a lttle ways in my sync got less synced...lol
I will not b stumped on such an easy one, must b fake tape or fraud going on if i cant get it...................
Check out Bob at ~2:30 and ~3:00, destroying cannon. Hunter is not impressed.
had no idea what I was getting into ... out of nowhere I just started crying the last 5-6 minutes... then things became a lot clearer. Still sobbing ... I've never heard anything quite like it~ gorgeous Terrapin
I love how the search takes me down so many roads to shows I've not explored.
anybody else hear a wang dang doodle tease during the transition, almost like Bobby wants it and jerry says, nope ... Terrapin ...Or maybe Smokestack tease, those two are similar
I hear it, but thought it was a Spoonful tease.
i think those two and nobody's fault and smokestack are probably in the same key and similar in the long run...
Take the hint at face value.
Great stuff. How about some PIGPEN?!!
skipped over this one the first time, but focused on the tease and nailed it . . . A couple year's later GD played at this venue again, it's in my collection for the keyboards . . .
Not sure if my submission took - website up & down (technical difficulties) now it's back . . .
This show happened the day my daughter was born. Which would be a real great hint if you know my daughter! And the next possible match was my birthday... Wasn't at either show, but I think I'll listen now.
simple (when you catch the verse that gets lost ;-) .... also .. interesting way to close the 1st set (!)
...the poor boy's on the line.
ive been loving the official hints for the day, (some of the group hints are t.m.i., i.m.o. lol). The official ones thou, they are enough to point most in the right direction, yet tricky enough to lead even some of the most experienced astray! Very clever wording, keeping with the standard Hunter and the Dead set! Grateful everyday, especially the Nov. ones!
# The obvious was hidden
was nice. But the real gift begins where this one leaves off.
Glad the bus came by and I got on years earlier & was along for the ride to soak in those 16 months.
Inspiration, move me brightly.
The compass always points to a WDD tease...
Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings (Jack-A-Roe?!? - today's MP3 label?)
I heard it as SSL, though to be fair I admit I don't pay much attention to post-Pigpen GD blues covers other than Mydland's solos.
and roll a Perception check.
Turn it up, Dave!
& thank you Robert Hunter!
Got on the us in 1970, and followed regularly till late 80's. After that worked overseas and didn't have many opportunities, but love to relisten these shows. Been a great 30 Days so far. Would be good to get a little "Pig" before Dec.
At the end of Truckin there is a small WDD a longer SSL, though right as they transition into Terrapin there is a bar or two of Crazy Fingers to help ease the rough transition from truckin to terrapin. Amazing how effortless they make it seem, sound and create that flow that they feed off of the crowd with.
more so than WDD & SSL, just sayin...
c'mon Lazy Dave, why chop off that killer 5 minute jam after Terrapin?!?
I meeeaaan that's really wtf we're here for!!!
