Days Of Dead

Easy Wind
Hint:
The penultimate studio recording by the Grateful Dead's original front man
day19_mrb37fx0gse_easywind.mp3
San Francisco, CA, Family Dog at the Great Highway
Released on Workingman's Dead in 1970, Easy Wind would be Pigpen's second-to-last studio lead vocal, with Operator from American Beauty being his last. He would write and perform several more songs, but none were recorded in the studio with the Dead

I just downloaded a Dead & Company show from Nassau earlier this month. It's good to hear John Mayer doing Easy Wind & keeping Pigpen's spirit alive in the music. I always felt badly for him. I don't think Pigpen realized how much he influenced the band with his love for the Blues. He probably felt like people would forget about him, but he's loved by all Deadheads.

Hey Wackaloon, I'm hanging in there. I had a heart ablation & that keeps my SVT in check. I still have some crazy symptoms, but it's not as bad as it was. I'm dealing with complications from my hernia surgery a few years ago. I'm gonna have to get one of those implants put in my back to block the pain from the nerve damage. I think I'd rather be 30-years-old again. LOL. A do-over would be nice. Hope you're doing alright.

Thought I'd never never never never never find this damn song, but alas, there it was, nestled between two big dogs. However, it was not listed on my main setlist stats page that I use as a resource (setlist.fm).

"The (Pig) pen-ultimate studio recording..."
I see what you did there. BTW, first Grateful Dead T-shirt ever was a big ol' Pig Pen screen printed on front. Feel like skipping down the road like Snoopy and Woodstock with an Easy Wind to blow me safely home.

...is better than nothing, and much appreciated. Missed opportunity, though. What follows, flawed by a couple of mishaps alas, is stellar. You all owe it to yourselves to indulge in the entire show, and just drift out on the sonic tide. Ahhhh. What a trip that must've been!

14 for 18 so far, but........ I feel pretty confident on this one, but is there something I'm missing? Yesterday's win made twice in 8 years. Looking forward to 2023! I've got a tape from this show, and sound quality is exceptional for this era. Only saw one show from this year, but jumped on the bus as regularly as college allowed, in future years. Ohio, NY, NM, CO, a d a few field trips to CA and NE. What a ride!
