Days Of Dead

This was always a powerful way to end a show, three big rock and roll numbers rather than the usual one or two. Slightly more common, although still rare, was Miracle>Bertha>Good Lovin'

    hey now bc

You could have piped up yesterday and it'd been a grate hint!

Maybe we'll get another chance at that and maybe some fuzzy memories as you have quite the prolific 'shows attended' hiss-toe-ray... ;-) Make it a Grateful Day everyone!

P.S. And now back to your regularly scheduled 88 first set (and traffic lights)

    Not going there.

Venue names that is. I know I got the right choice today, and what a choice musical miracle it is. Thanks for easing up on us a little bit today Dave.

One comment regarding Bertha the song. I always find myself singing along when I hear it, and one lyric that always made me scratch my head is the one where Jerry sings: "I had a hard run, running from your window."
I've always felt "hard run" was a little awkward sounding, or not a term that I would personally use, so it makes me wonder if the original lyric maybe went, "I had a hard*n running from your window"(letter o substituted as this IS a family site). Then run smack into a tree. Ducked into a bar door, etc. Always made more sense to me and definitely made me laugh picturing that one. Much funner than if Bertha was just an oscillating floor fan or a skeleton critter. Wish I could pose the question to Robert Hunter or Jerry. Oh well.

    Any thoughts on the matter?

Twenty days in, still no Pigpen. Disgraceful................

It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards.........

Finally got sound pro friend to listen to eyes yesterday. Heard it once with no internet or reference or anything. Rattled off a whole bunch of info i didnt understand and said it is late 79 and lost sailor is next. that narrowed it down to 2 so i got my entry in, but hats off to lightning mike for an amazing ear. you are truly the knob turner.
Today i can handle the old fashion way....lol

Well, by the three songs alone, I found more than just one possibility.

I'm not entering, but I would like to thank GD for the Thirty Days series. One more reason to look forward to November each year!

Nice lob today! I saw a great show at this venue later in the decade. Beware there are two venue choices in the drop down. Both are technically correct, but one was the “official” name when this show happened. Several years later the official name was changed to the other one. However, with our luck the official answer will be the later name.

I've triple checked my answer right down to the how many "any mores" in Bertha and I'm positive about my choice. But the venue drop down does not contain either name this venue went by, What do I do, just go with unknown, unknown?
Cheers

The city is mislabeled on some sources. It's actually listed on the drop down list as it's proper suburb town location.

The venue is technically in a different city and not under the general metropolitan area name.

I'm going w/ visual evidence about venue name... hope I'm right this time. If not, I'm going to take it up w/ McNally

Ok, not mine, but my wife's, and neither of us were there. A bit before our time, but still a birthday show. I was lucky and actually got to see a few real birthday shows!!! Actually, I sometimes got to see 2 birthday shows each time (when the show would go past midnight like if there was a warmup band). Not a bad way to spend your birthday!!!

Lot of hints out there!!! Glad I got it before I read the comments.

Gotta love the enthusiasm!
Sure can't lose this time. I hope Dave has found another source for this show - it starts pretty hot and stays that way through much of the way, with Jerry doing some nice soloing even in some of the songs that sometimes got sloppy in later years (and Bobby gets in his licks too). Good stuff!

Got this one despite some pitch difference. Had a feeling on the year right away plus they helped clue you in with the hint today. A good month this one!

I had a hard run with yesterdays Eyes, but eventually woke up to find it.
I really didn’t have to move too far for todays grouping.
Enjoy rolling in the rushes of this sequence.
How can there only be 10 more days?

One of the many amazing things about the Dead was that no tune really was the same twice. After listing to and enjoy the song of the day, as well as identifying key markers for era or year, I go back to the beginning and listen to how the song starts. Who comes in first? Drums of cymbals first? It works for me and then I only need to listen to the first 1 to 20 seconds of song before ruling it out. Sorting my iTunes library by song makes it easy to go to the year/era and more often then not find the correct night in minutes. Might need an assist for Relisten. Then I have plenty of time to listen to show or go back to a few others encountered on my search. Today I found something called Deadbase which was pretty cool. No wonder it’s mentioned so often. Tomorrow can’t come soon enough, but the end of November always come far too quickly. Best of fun to all of us.

How quickly do they reach out to the daily winners? I thought I won a day (wasn’t logged in to this username, my name and city were a match, not very big town), haven’t gotten an email, do emails go out over the weekend?

I have won a few times here over the years and gotten my prize twice i think, but that's more on me for not following through since i really don't care about the prize unless it's the grand prize, (which i haven't won, yet...). Have you checked your messages on the deadnet site? pretty sure that's how they communicated with me. otherwise i'd just reach out to them through this site as well in the messages.

I always sing the exact same thing! I like thinking that the narrator is a peeping Tom or something. Although, I do believe it's "...hard run,"
