love how you can hear each person so clearly individually creating the whole.
ya'll notice on loser how many almost matched up, until the jamming,
but was making me think, weeellllll........ except that you know it for sure when it's a match.
ended up searching a while last night, thought i'd come back tonight and wrap it up. except my 20 minute nap turned into 90 and misread my notes and came back to search dates i'd already checked. long story short i ran ouot of time. turns out if i'd checked one more on my way up last night i'da found it.
oh well loser indeed
now that's a hint !
and a lovely taste of this show.
All really nice but the breaks at around the four minute mark are quintessential - what a confidence boost that must have been for Jerry and the gang. I have more to say but it's late and I'm tired. It happens I saw Mick Fleetwood tonight, finishing off a world tour, and his solo and playing were so good, it is hard to say much more right now. But otherwise, I would continue to write of Bill's unlimited prowess as demonstrated here!
Garcia's growl, "I wish I was a headlight on a North bound train", reminds me of 5/7/84 at The Hult Center. The entire band had just finished that verse of the song, and just as they were about to go into "I know you Rider" chorus, Garcia shifts gears and goes for the "I wish I was a headlight" verse a second time! I was there, just to the right of Dan Healy at the sound board in the balcony, and it was truly powerful. I looked left and even Dan had this big ol' grin on his face. Ken Kesey and Ken Babbs play the Thunder Machine during space during this mini run, adding a little Merry Prankster vibe to these Eugene shows.
we should all be winners today! Thanks David L.
I looked to see when these two songs were originally paired up (9-30-69 Cafe au Go-Go, NYC) because I don't think I ever took the time to look. Suffice it to say that they prettied up the transition quite a bit in the interim :)
Kinda like when I realized that at some point along the way they added the middle verse ("Almost ablaze...") to FOTM (9-2-78). May seem like minutiae to most, but to you and I that shit matters because it's part of Dead concert history!
Another selection with some uncontrolled electronic weirdness. Seems to be a running theme this year!
I thought 2-9-73 was the first test of the wall of sound when they blew up all the tweeters in the first minute. An article from a google search said the debut was 3-23-74 but that's been released already so.... oh, wait. First touring appearance. Ahhh, bingo.
Digital clocks not lining up proves the theory of relativity.
Pauley and Cow Palace were tests. This was the full-blown glorious, touring monstrosity.
I got a nice color pic of this one. You could tell right away that it was outdoor.
Despite the cues there is something a little tricky that made me pass over it the first time, so it took more time than I expected. In the end, I hit it.
March winds will blow all my troubles away...
I wish I was a headlight on a north-bound train
I'd shine my light through the cool Colorado rain...
Always a sense of freedom with this song...one of my faves.
I'm with you Shiney. I keyed in on Billy right away when I listened to this. Probably wasn't a great day to sit beneath the WoS with its early winching system.....
Maybe we will get a 'Feedback' as a selection to closeout 30dod 2019.
That would be fitting! It certainly has been a leitmotif this year.
Love this combo! Caught myself just in time!
I didn't have to look for a long while for this China-Rider
Thanks for the hint tonight David!
Gonna miss the 30 Days when its gone....
till I heard that all too familiar feedback squeal. Never sounded so sweet today and thankfully brief. Makes me feel humble to have all this great music right at my fingertips with any request granted.
I think I hear a very faint intro to Playing. I think it will get louder in the next few days.....
...rather than generic trivia about the song in general.
started diggin before reading the hint. which once i did took me right there.
once again November screamin right on by
