we running out of shows?
ten years in are we starting to run out of choices?
or my calendar theory holds true since they caved and made up for the last studio pick.
i know where i should be looking but can't find the match.
oh well. found more fun stuff
stu-stu-studio
bad cold or good H? Jerry sounds stuffy as hell here.
Conspiracy theories are starting to swirl: ran out of shows, ran out of calendars, ran out of Pigpen...
No representation from the slew of new latter day Dead material ("Ready Or Not" album). There's usually a Lazy River Road or So Many Roads by now. Instead, substandard studio tracks and repeats from past years of 30 DoD.
Consolation
At least there hasn't been a Comes A Time yet. (Jinxed it.) That song makes me want to off myself.
Crazy F
THIS is the one that was recorded at Nassau Veterans Memorial. That's where the confusion was with 11/21 Eyes rehearsal. I remember working as a custodian at the Coliseum when the band pulled in after their Roosevelt Stadium gig. I opened the doors for them (against company policy), helped unload their gear, and they started jamming. I still have the tapes from this event somewhere and promised the band I would never tell this story. Crazy Fingers was originally planned to be on WOTF, but I talked them down and out of that idea. Jer said "Thanks, that makes sense!' With the last piece of equipment stowed in the truck, they waved a flag, told me to keep on truckin' , don't go down the road feeling bad, and we're making you the pride of Cucamonga. Great memories, I think ;)
Here we go, again
From deadessayblogspot.com: "There are many more rehearsals from April/May '76 that are not on the Archive, which include more Attics, slow versions of Might As Well, and takes of Crazy Fingers, Saint Stephen, Let It Grow, the "Peanut Butter Song", Estimated Prophet, and Born Cross-Eyed."
Gonna Eat Worms
I didn't want another calendar anyway.
PS - Rasta -- hilarious story.
better out there
There are better CF's from 75 and 76, why choose a random rehearsal with Jerry's voice all raggedy?
Pointless selection today
I agree with the other comments. Of all the Crazy Fingers, why pick this? 1) it doesn't sound very good 2) pretty easy to find on the archive (it's gotta be 75 rehearsals) and of all the great Crazy Fingers - this one? Why not one of the gorgeous, jammed out ones from 76 or a nice 80's one (where Jerry hopefully remembers the words).
Dear Scholars
I enjoy the history and progression of these songs. Nothing wrong with hearing different versions though time, versions that are not typically on our radars. They are indicators of what's going on in the larger social environment, how the band is feeling that day, where they are at with a particular piece of evolving art. Put your GD scholar hats on and enjoy the trip for what it is....regardless if it meets your idea of perfection. Thanks, Dave, for sharing these with us! We are grateful!
Later than what's out there?
After going through every link on Archive with "rehearsal" in it I think I've given up hunting for the day. Did find some cool miscellaneous stuff though which is cool!
For those still at it, it seems like the 30Days version is closer to the later eras than the earlier ones that are common on Archive.
Good luck!
bobbys studio, mickeys barn, ace, alembic, club front...
went thru all the outakes, studios, and rehearsals...guess i will fnd out tomorrow
dave must have counted wrong and only had 28 calendars
Edit: Attitude adjustment
Think I found the month, year and venue in DeadBase 50 corrections section but no day or source to check against. I'll come back tonight to see if there's a hint give away.
Attitude edited out.
"The truth of love an unsung song must tell
The course of love must follow blind without a look behind." ~RH~
just slips away but I try
I guess we will see how it feels at the end of the day exactly when/where this was played.
I made an educated guess and Life may be sweeter for this, I don't know.
Good Luck all. The 30 Days are flying by!

FUN
to hear rehearsals in great quality, mistakes and all. Fun! Remember fun? ;)
SWAG alert
Nothing out there I could hang my heart on...
venue?
When Jerry yells F minor he sounds like he's yelling it across a theater stage.
Pre-tour rehearsal or sound check?
Jerry’s voice is a dead(grateful) giveaway, dusting off the finger that made all the heads crazy!
Small window
Definite time frame when band was practicing for this tour, lot's of examples, but where? Finally just guessed and figure that Dave has found something we haven't heard??
Never could reach it, just slips away but I try(!)
I'm going to go out on a limb. I think I have it figured out, although it would appear that there are no known recordings of this on the internet. And if I'm right it's only because I really paid attention to the little details and spent far more time searching than I should have. We shall see.
Beyond my means
Can't spend much time on this one, I don't think I have to tools for it and a surge in Covid fried my head for the night. Won't spend but a few minutes looking.
Then again there's that hint...
Looked in one drawer for a while. Seemed obvious but... the vocals the vocals.
Took a look in another drawer or 2.
Looked at that hint closely... hmm...
I gave a guess. Maybe.
It may be
too early, but this is the best 30 Days yet.
Swing batter-batter-swing-batter-batter
Yeah, I'm with you, D-Rae, only for me, it feels like I went full count, then fouled off the next 7 pitches to stay alive, only to pop out in foul territory with runners in scoring position. A game of inches...
Dave’s throwing knuckleballs.
I hear ya LeeBob. Still haven’t submitted. But we’re in the bottom of the ninth.
Happy New Year it’s 2007!
I remember an old head telling me a tale about these rehearsals one time when I was hanging out in the tapers section.
More than just Fingers Crazy
I can't get that taper to talk to me.
Somebody's rollin'.......
loaded dice! But YOU KNOW I thoroughly enjoyed the search! There are MANY better versions out there as well! And WHO doesn't feel like a better informed DeadHead today! Still a dirty trick though.(I choose March whatever, 1975 regardless).
P.S. - loved the "banter over joint" however! And Frankly, I feel closer to the band today than ever before so thanks Dave!
I can't even figure out what era this is
I don't think it's from Blues for Allah sessions--Garcia's voice sounds too raggedy
Put a swing on it
Can't win if I don't try ... had to look back to 2012 for my two clues and then selected one. Good Night all~
I think I got the year
Sure don't know what I'm going for...but I'm gonna go for it for sure.
Search Places
I never use any other source but my brain. I attended every show/rehearsal they did so I just rely on memories ;). Won twice in last 4 years. Happy Thanksgiving to all !
