Can't figure out how I missed Casey, I swore I checked that show, but went back once the answer was up and sure enough, right there it is. Nice to have an easy one today.

Sending out a kind reminder that in these days of slashing non-profits, Archive dot org faces immense challenges in their mission to provide free music, literature, films, history, etc. to everyone worldwide. I am not a fan of Picasso Moon. And to join it with a Brent tune is just being rude. It is, however, one of Brent's best 2 or 3 tunes, so it has that going for it. Also, it turns out to be an easy one to help make up for yesterday.

I was tempted to enter my guess without bothering to listen, given the hint, but gave it a listen anyway (don't want to be too over-confident). That's 14 straight now, and 16 overall after slow start this year. Only six days left after today. Stalking satisfaction!

Given the second dose from this date, I'm hoping this is a little foreshadowing on Dave's part.

Picasso Moon was never on my "need to see" while on tour but I don't consider it a throw away number...meaning its cool, this version is actually pretty good. As for Just a lil light, Gawd Brent was such an important member in my heart, his vocals and talent on keys was beyond reproach, this number is a great vehicle to showcase that.
Congrats Smallz always great to see a familiar name win the day.

And thank you Dave! First time winner, playing since '14. Didn't think it was ever possible. I have to give props to my wife who wouldn't let me give up yesterday, even as she assigned more chores for me around the house. In between cleaning up the leaves and putting up holiday decorations I came back, tried again, and found what I'd missed the first time through. She's as excited as I am this morning.

Today is a nice break from the intensity of the hunt.

Congrats Smallz must feel good. I was also hauling leaves yesterday getting set for mulch in next years garden north of Chicago. What a clue today! More time for the show. Gotta love that.

After the multi-hour hunt I went on yesterday, I gotta thank Dave for giving us a softball one today. Ain't half bad, either!

I was very surprised to see all of the trouble people had with getting the 10/23/1971 Casey Jones. There is only one tour where Keith's piano has that tone. It sounds like he is playing an upright piano. The custom pickups they developed to capture the big, beautiful Europe '72 grand piano tone didn't come along until after Keith's first tour.

was cut off of the 1st source I tried on that correct date and then I went everywhere in the 2 year period. My second mistake was assuming Donna didn't sing on Casey Jones. It was certainly easy enough to know it was Keith era but those of you who called this easy underestimate the number and kind of mistakes an easy pick can generate for some of us.
A little too easy today with a one-off combo and give-away hint, lol.

As do I. And that's how I searched for it too. Just used the short form this AM. Interesting that my Deadbase didn't denote that tuning as it often does with tunings. Another thing that "got" me. But persistence paid off in the end.

Back to the drawing board.

Nice versions of both of these songs and about as easy a search as we get during 30DOD. JPB sure knew how to articulate some dark subject matter. I'll bet he has a good laugh when he sees us trying to visualize tinsel tigers, chrome-spike bunnies and metal angels and the like.

The break between these 2 songs is almost bigger than a drive-in movie.
I guess it doesn't matter, since this should be an easy find.
Hope you find just a little light with this duo on Day 24.

RIP........one of my top 3 concerts ever....1988 at a club in Bloomington, IN called Jakes...rode my bicycle from Indy to B-town (80+ miles) in 100 degree weather to be there.....almost died from the heat but made it.......worth ever minute....the harder they come, the harder they fall.....most of the originals are gone, or going......Burning Spear is still kickin' it, but he's 80...saw him about a month ago at the Salt Shed in Chicago......dang...really bummed about Jimmy.

In this season of Thanks, I wanted to express my gratefulness for you creating this opportunity for Deadheads to lose ourselves and become Explorers, Detectives and Pirates. Every day is a new adventure and the path of discovery has no pitfalls as we are introduced to new areas of exploration with each wrong (or right) turn. The camaraderie amongst us has that eternal smile of a Shakedown Miracle. I’m thankful for all of you and for John, Stu and Mike for creating DeadBase and Charlie Miller for all his phenomenal recordings. Never had such a good time…
