i never noticed or payed attention to the three dots by the volume button on the daily selection and just found out you can adjust the playback speed. how long has that been there. all these years having to hit pause and play to keep things in sync.
when its done and over a man is just a man
what a tasty chunk this is adding to this years awesome buffet
will be making more than one trip back to this year
edit: ok so since messing with the speed thing it does not help. makes it way to fast or slow
still managed to find this one rather easily using the jam as my key
this was also the beginning of a new era, as it was the year of my first show

ok since apparently everyone is all Tryptophaned out i'll just keep talking. listen through to the rest of the show. its got some good fun stuff in there

A slider control would be soooo perfect, right? The best source I found was just slower/downhsifted (relative to Dave's recording, above) enough to really screw with my main strategy to test my educated guesses. Certainly less than the 25% increments available under those dots.

I think I got this one, but it’s trickier than it looks. I see the dots but can’t figure out how they work. I think I’ll sleep on it. Better than making a hasty decision at 3 am that I’ll regret later.

Great pick today...thanks for sharing with the world. Gotta love that China Doll solo!

This is an underrated show during what I would call a great stretch of GD. Keep 'em coming!

am seeing on deadbase several viable choices but am wondering whether it will b listed as jam after china or possibly drums and jam folds into china.
still the amount of times are not overwhelming like yesterday so it should be a good hunt.
hope all had great day yesterday and are relaxed and happy for the last 5 days.
cant believe how fast this month goes.
peace

2nd try was the charm!

The eerily beautiful China Doll is one of my personal favs based on a personal experience I won't discuss here but I know why Jerry sang it here as "I will not forgive you".

I'm using an Altair 8800 I picked up on Ebay.

I hover the pointer over them, then click. That brings up the download and playback speed options.
I'm using a Radio Shack TRS 80.

Been playing for 3, thinking 4th year currently & got my 1st win yesterday. 1st year lucky to have 50% right, this year only missed 1 so far (guess I got better at listening). got lucky today too, picked a year looked at a couple shows on the 3rd, decided the times were close, & started to listen & lo & behold, I found it. I personally love this year & the following & wonder why these years aren't seeing more releases. beautifully haunting (but short) lead in China Doll & a *HINT* Dupree's is a really nice version, cause it's a certain someone's favorite song ( I read somewhere)
Thanks to all involved in sharing these good vibes !

I was fortunate enough to be picked as the winner on 11/24 (Sailor-Saint-Deal) after many years of playing 30 DOD. I would have been just as happy to never have been chosen and still be receiving this great music but it is very much appreciated. I look forward to November every year for this and can't believe how quickly it is going this year. Best of luck to all for the remainder of the contest and if you get confused just listen to the music play........

For me I can only access extra controls if I r i g h t - c l i c k on the player box (running F i r e f o x on my Univac I (got a great deal on it, only takes up the entire floor too)

Play
Mute
Speed - Hover over arrow head to further tree out the menu for speed options

...other options there too but this site's strange comment section blocks certain words or phrases. Strange false positive occurring here in the comments this year if anyone on the tech team is reading. Not a complaint. But something is tripping the "hey you posted an e m b e d d e d l i n k " alarm at the wrong times

Almost flew over this one then I had a great notion and I passed the test .

WOW what a great piece of music!!!! I'm so glad I've gotten in on it this year since day one. This is my first year participating. I'm 33 been a deadhead for about 20 years now. Love the music. It's mystical lyrics paired with the spacey jams there is no other like it.

Loved digging in and listening to these pairing of Playin' and China Doll....It's nice digging into the archive. I've been impressed with the quality of the sound even though they're not official releases.

thing is when I make an aud/sbd matrix sync and it locks in for the whole track.

I had a aud. tape of the second set of the first night of this run years ago and it's a scorcher. It was an up close and personal recording dripping with electric energy and funny audience chatter.

I just counted and I saw this sequence 10 times and they were all great shows. I'll have to go listen to one. Here's three if your looking for something to listen to today:

1987-03-29. The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA

1985-06-14. Greek Theater, U Of CA - Berkeley, CA

1983-09-10. Santa Fe Downs - Santa Fe, NM

The site's offering here was not pitched the same as the boards I found out there.... Holy out of tune syncs Batman! But the matrix experiment worked great!

I found this one by identifying where Jerry's first solo in China Dall appeared.

is there anywhere I can access previous years downloads for 30 days of dead?

By definition I didn't go with your "run" pick Ladnarc, but it was my first choice very early this AM.
That said, my record this year is poor. I don't use the archive or sync up shows simply because it's more work than I want to invest in the game. More just here for the downloads and finding things I didn't know.
I did pick one you cited by exact date as the total time was the same according to DeadbaseX.
DeadbaseX also eliminated the other two of your cited dates for me, one in their notes on the show and again one by definition.
Guess we'll know tomorrow.
Cheers

Those harpsichord keys in China took me back to Mountains of the Moon in '69....
how cool to travel back to the early daze just from hearing this beautful Doll....
not too tough to find....
thanks for fulfilling my hope for a China Doll, Dave...now howza 'bout an Easy Wind....maybe??

...it was Richmond '84. Almost put that down blindly as a guess (cause I was there), but decided to search. If you are a Phil freak, listen to Richmond '84. Check out the solo Phil lays down on Minglewood. The LSD from the other day I almost put down Prov '85 blindly, cause I was there....!

Yeah, Richmond!

Richmond 11-2-85 was the best show I ever went to. And Phil laid down some incredible bombs during what in my opinion turned out to be the greatest Morning Dew ever played.

I had the tape for this show and the bass on the opening to Morning Dew just rocked my world. It helped to have an awesome subwoofer, so my room rumbled. So I understood how amazing it must have been to have been there

to me, is about as beautiful and bittersweet as you can get musically. It's one of those tunes that just epitomizes Jerry Garcia for me. I cringe whenever I hear someone else try to imitate his style on this tune. Maybe this one isn't the "best" version out there, but I suspect Jerry's heartfelt performance on this tune was for an old friend back at home.
