A big 'thank you' to Dave and all at dead.net for their hard work in making 30daysofdead happen in this difficult year. Great song picks.....every year I think that the quality will drop, but it never does
i'd say that's just exactly perfect
and the rest of the whole thing too.
ohhh and it's a bit of a tricky one. nice
have a grate year everyone.
oh and treat yourself to the tune after this one
ps still waiting on word of that calander ; )
An entire month, and no Pigpen.
Anyone know if there's going to be a 31 days of dead this year?
That is all!
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
-See y'all later
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you more than words can tell!!
Definitely gonna listen to the rest of this show the rest of this morning... (although getting off to a shaky start sound-wise, wonder how long it takes them to pull it together) Also, a fitting end with some potential venue name confusion...
hey, lets do this every month!!
See you all next year. It was fun!
Just in case hes reading these comments, Im trying to connect with one of the winners this month (Jeffrey, from Francestown, NH) PM me.
I’ll miss my November morning ritual, it’s such a great way to start the day. See y’all back here in 335 days!!! Take care of yourselves and each other ❤️
Never had such a good time as the 30 Days of Dead. Thanks for the fun. I too will miss the morning ritual of coffee and exploring the depths of the GD. All those nuggets you find along the way searching for the sound are awesome too!!! Be well and be kind.
I am grateful to everyone for a fantastic 30 Days!
Take care and "we'll see you all later!"
This 30 days was an amazing adventure. Really enjoyed finding them and others along the way. Fare thee well but not forever. Our love for you will not fade away. Thanks Dave. I had Uncle Johns band stuck in my head forever.. haha.
Thanks to all the regulars i spend November with for years.
God bless u and our family, with health and happiness
May the four winds roll you safely home.
Peace, Love, and Happy Dancing Dead Now and Always
Oh, and thanks for the tip to listen to the next song
to a fantastic month! Thanks again Dave & Co. for serving up a delicious smorgasbord of tasty 30 DoD treats. The heart and hard drive have never felt so full.
The hint today had me searching for encores at first, but after coming up empty and recalibrating the parameters, I came upon 2 versions less than a year apart that are unique among all others from this era in that they contain the exact same fuckup.
Fare you well, fellow Deadheads.
We will survive!
Thank you, Dave, Rhino, et alia! I appreciate all the music--the free tunes and the paid content.
Be kind, rewind.
kick drum kinda sets the era.
28 out of 30 not bad.
Fare Thee Well...
I haven't been active in the comments this year - working from home has its drawbacks. But I kept tabs on everything happening and it was another stellar year, thanks to Dave, Mary, Rhino, and everyone! I'll have this year's archive ready for download tomorrow once the venue/date are posted; you'll be able to download it, along with all the other years of 30 Days since the beginning in 2010, here:
Fare you well! Be safe.
Another great 30 Days and thanks to everyone involved!
...as usual, for 11 straight Novembers now. I also went 28 for 30 this year -- had the venues, but not the dates for the studio tracks. Quite a show around today's track. Doesn't get much better. Thanks to all. It was a blast.
The studio tracks generally kill my perfect runs!
If you got half the answer take half credit.
I loved that more than words can tell.
Thanks for the 30 Days of the Dead.
Boy, did I ever need this this year. Thank you for caring. Talk about full-circle. The lack of distance between the band and its audience has always been the thing.
Are there any for these collections?
OK, Dave. That was tricky. Thanks for a great November. See you all again next year. May the four winds blow you safely home.
Just Another Grateful Deadhead! The Commander sends profuse gratitude and thanks to the entire crew for all their spelunking in the depths of the archives, and for keeping it interesting, as always. The repertoire is so vast that no matter what any given year of 30 Days features, there will always be more.
I generally don't complain, but I've got one this year, and it's not about the selections. It's about gratitude. The crew works hard to put on 30 Days each year. The selections are always fascinating and enjoyable, and I'm very grateful. Perhaps I take them too seriously, but I find the critical comments to often be somewhat petty. After all that work, all a commenter can submit is negative?
I don't care which decade is featured or not, I don't care which former member is featured or not. There is nothing "disgraceful" (really? Disgraceful? Stop your melodramatic whining! There's plenty of your favorite member available online) about this year's offering. Every damn decade is interesting, and every member is interesting, both in the collective and individually. Try expanding your horizons.
I always felt for JAPDs who can't just relax and enjoy the offerings. I guess being able to get their self righteous knickers in a bunch over a particular decade or band member is part of how they have fun. Still, there were plenty of times at shows I moved away from the loud JAPDs who couldn't enjoy the music without armchair quarterbacking Jerry, Bob, or the rest of the band. It's a strange way to get one's kicks - being fanatic about something and complaining whenever receiving that something. "I got chocolate! But it's the wrong kind of chocolate! This free money is all in twenties! I want it in tens! Whah!"
I accept that JAPDs are part of the whole ride, but they get to me sometimes. I guess that makes me a JAPDAPD (Just Another Picky Deadhead About Picky Deadheads!).
Commander McJeff, couldn't have said it better. We needed this break, especially in the Year Of The Dumpster Fire, 2020. I am glad for all the effort those who worked on this put into it. It's a labor of love, and should be accepted as it is for what it's worth. Who isn't disappointed after November is over, even those who are "disgruntled"? I, for one, have really enjoyed the selections, and once again, I find new things to listen to each time I play.
Thank you Dave, and the rest of the team. Novembers would not be the same without you. I am GRATEFUL for what you do. Here's hoping everyone has a happy season and that next year will be a whole lot better than this one was.
Thanks fellow Jeff! I mean, I'm fine with JAPDs, they help keep things honest. So let me say that I honor and love the essential JAPDs in our community. My criticism was made with love, appreciation and inclusion. Really, at times over the decades a JAPD might turn me on to a detail that I hadn't noticed before. And if the feedback makes it back to the band, then it's helpful (for the most part - I always thought people overreacted to Day Job and the 'junkie' ref in VOTC). After all, among the myriad aspects of this thing we call the Grateful Dead, it is/was very much like sports; with stats, ratings, intense record keeping, discussion of the nuances and details in each performance. All of that is great! In a sense it's the essence of the 30 Days annual awesomeness. And finally, the squeaky wheels get noticed - perhaps there will be compensation next year in terms of a favorite band member, especially if decent recordings are available.
My main thing this year was reacting to comments that were only complaints and did not include any thanks or respect for the folks who put this together, especially the enviable Dave L, who has shared his love with all of us. The other is reminding JAPDs that their valuable observations are best when not too petty or whiny or melodramatic.
Much love to all - I value each member of our vast community. I wish the best 2021 for all!
Thanks to all who put this together! See you all next year!!
I got my Brokedown Palace...THANK YOU!! Dave
The next song of the show that is so amazing is on a previous 30 DoD.....
As the Commander said so succinctly, for those that continue to call for some Pigpen, if you've been here in the past YOU should know by now that there will not be anything by Pig and no amount of complaining will help.
I'm just Grateful that Dave and others are willing to spend their time and efforts to put so much of my favorite music out here and allow me to download it FOR FREE!!!
Thanks for opening the doors 👀 to 28 shows and 2 events
Had it qued up and the internet crashed. And then I crashed out and missed entry deadline. Listened to most of the encores from February 1970 thru April 1971 up until https://archive.org/details/gd71-04-13.s2p.9410.eliot.sbeok.shnf/041371…
November 1970 had one of the most delightful ones with special guests. Also February 28, 1970 was hard to track down & top quality. Luckily Dave L. SD scored a copy and hopefully Rhino or whoever releases that show soon for the holiday season.
Yesterday China Rider was one that didn't take searching got it one first guess Fall 1989 & the super jam
This one took a bit of digging, but I’ll listen anytime Jerry wants to sing a lullaby beside the water. Absolutely beautiful way to conclude the 30 Days.
Dave & Co, thanks so much for all your work. And a huge thanks to the band for allowing their shows to be recorded and shared for many generations to rock their soul!
Stay healthy all.
Thanks for all this "grate " music every November.
yes ... thx to those that put this game (contest ?) together ... I often am exposed to new shows, and this year is no exception.... after poking around I noticed on the archive >> 4/30/77 .. (and the lack of a crisp snbd ;-) .. then to my surprise I find that the first download series spotlighted this show ... score ! .. listening to it right now, in fact ... love Kieth's shot at organ during Scarlet > Fire ... anyway ... can't wait till next year (!)
it wouldn't be a bad thing to know how many entries got it right ...on each day.. you know .. a little statistics ... (deadbase is nutz with that kind of thing !)
Thanks to all in the Grateful Dead community who, like a river, sing to our lives and soothe our souls with sweet music.
What a moving end to a beautiful 30 Days! Thank you, Dave and Mary and the band and everyone who brought us these 30 days. In such a tough year, you brought me smiles every day!
And thanks to all my fellow travelers on this golden road who make November the best month of the year. Be well. Be healthy. Be kind. See you all next year!!
can I keep a dry eye while listening to this masterpiece. But they needed a good flushing anyway to help me see clearly through all the incorrect versions, many which sounded INCREDIBLY similar. Just keep your wingin' birds separate from your singin' birds and you'll find the correct version in no time. And thanks everybody for a REAL GOOD TIME! Long live 30DOD!
We have had a few over the years. "Alligator" in 2010 and 2013. "Operator" in 2015.
This is a great treat thank you all who make it possible for this musical delight in November may it long continue
A just exactly perfect ending to another wonderful collection of daily delectables.
For a year that's been full of WTFs, this month has been one of OMGs, every single day.
We can't thank you enough .
Once again, more fun than a frog in a glass of milk.
Thanks to everyone for putting this together.
And here's hoping the new year's a damn sight better than the last for everyone.
Thank you Dave and Co for another grate month of fun and discovery. Aside, 30 DoD lifers may recall that Dave shared a selection from this Brokedown show with us many years ago.
I always love the 'banter' that takes place in comments each day, especially amongst all of us 'Usual Suspects'.
Sad that it's the final curtain for this years 30 DOD, yet happy celebrating the birthday of my lovely bride of 36 years, and today being the final day of hurricane season (so they say)! Wishing everyone a safe, fun and grateful 2021.
Keep the mother rollin....!
Ending it with another winner and used the 2019 cues in the feedback to lock it down. Can't ever lose at this but ...
for a month of great music! Can't wait for next year. Will definitely be revisiting the source for todays nugget. Best wishes to all in the new year!
What a great time as usual. Loved every minute. Thank you all for making this happen!
I had to get the Phil and Bobby fills just right in the first 1 to 3 minutes to determine this one.
