Madison, WI, Dane County Coliseum
The Madison, WI show in October 1973, the Dead's second visit to Dane County Coliseum in 1973, is a very, very good show. It was the fourth show of this leg of the Fall Tour of 1973, and came just 10 days after the release of "Wake Of The Flood," with this sequence featuring two of the standouts from that album, "Eyes" and "Stella Blue," along with a very deep and complex "Dark Star." Thanks for joining us for 30 Days Of Dead 2021!!

Second year in a row, no Pigpen. I'm not afraid to say it-----totally disgraceful.

To TPTB, you do great disrepect by failing to honor and remember a founding member of the band.

The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting.

Doc
When something is universal enough in our everyday lives, we take it for granted to the point of forgetting it exists......

Judging by the majority of Dave’s picks releases, I believe Dave simply isn’t as much of a fan of the pig era as he is the Brent era or the Hornsby era or the golden age of the 70s

Another big, big 'thank you' to Dave and all at dead dot net for this year's songs. As a lot of others have commented, this is one of the best years yet..... I'm looking forward to many of these shows being given an official release in the coming years.

Anyone who complains because they didn't get a particular song, should remember that they are all for FREE, and chill out

Hate to see the end of Month! Woke up to expect a monster search to only take a moment, but what a fabulous month it's been! Thanks Dave, and as always, I'll look forward to seeing you all in 2022!

7 hours 44 minutes: A new record for the amount of music for a "30 Days of Dead."
...beating out 2019's 7 hours and 3 minutes (and none of that 4 hours and 38 minutes in 2015...but many good songs regardless).
Thanks and see ya next year!!!

That's incredible, a new record. Thanks Dave, you really know how to spoil us. What a fantastic finish!

Another bountiful harvest, the best yet, and we have so much to be thankful for, not the least of all our health. I hope all you Heads stay safe, healthy, and sane (or thereabouts) so we can do it all again next year. Peace!

Really appreciate all your hard work and effort it takes to produce this amazing event. One suggestion for next year so you don’t have to stay up so late. Change the music release time to a regular Dead show start time like 7:30ish PM.

I was expecting something sweet and gentle to wrap things up: a Ripple, or a Brokedown, or an accoustic UJB. But no, Dave goes for the monster jam send off! May I be the first to bow humbly. Thanks to all for another grate 30 Days of Dead. Maybe I’ll see some of y’all in Mexico for Playing in the Sand. In the meantime, everybody stay safe. And may the four winds blow you safely home.

This is a deep thick stew of Grateful Dead here. One of my favorite tapes from a very experimental transitional year. Another fave tape of mine is from this same venue. Sometimes I wish they stayed with that chord progression around 4-5 minutes in known by many names...

Great year! Good to see everybody! They really made it more inclusive this year with the selections. No rehearsals or soundchecks ha.. I was sure that would happen. Wow... I never had a 30 for 30. Have fun everyone. Take care.

This was pretty much a gimme.

Thanks for the really fun contest Dave!

And thanks to my fellow Deadheads who made it interesting, fun, and educational! This was my first year doing 30DOD and I really got into it. It also made me very nostalgic and reminded me that I MISS JERRY!!!

See you all next time if not sooner!

I love 30 Days of Dead and each November I "wake up to find out" what little nuggets Dave has dug out for us. "If your cup is full may it be again" is my mantra for November.

Thanks to the boys for continuing to share their music each November. Thanks to Dave for digging deep and pulling out some gems for us to enjoy all year long. Until we meet again in November 2022..."I want to thank you, for a real good time" :-)

Using only DeadBase IX in all my playing days, the past 2 years have been 8/30 (27%), 13/30 (43%), and if I get today's correct, I'll be 33%. Plus 2 lucky draws for a calendar in 2019 and the "Don't Ease" white vinyl 7" single, which may have been 2017. All it takes is that one lucky draw, even if you only get 1/30. Thank you (again), for a real good time!!

Thanks to all involved in bringing us this fun game involving our favorite band and songs. I don't download them but enjoy the hunt and discovering great shows I might have or have not known about. Sometimes it's easy. like today & you can sit back & just enjoy the music without cross referencing, other times it's a real challenge.
Personal best this year, only missed one (Fire on the Mountain) hoping to bat 100% next year, & my first win!
in 4 years of playing. till next year, Hippy Holidays!!!!

Thank you for this and the other ones. Only realized this was a thing in the last couple of years, but will look forward to it and hope you continue.

The hints are fun, and remember, not all of us can sit and delve through shows for hours. The accessibility of a hint and sequence like todays make it so that more of us can enjoy.

I know the selections aren't everyone's cup of tea, but the hours and hours of free music we've been provided over the last 12 years is certainly something.

Thank you.

And best wishes to all for a peaceful, happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Thank you to Dave and co.
Never a dull moment with all the banter. First time for me batting 1000 in my 11 years. As I typically state, today is a bit sad with the end of 30 DOD, yet happy with the official end of hurricane season and my wife's b-day.
Maybe we will see some of you at DSO's Jam in the Sand in Jamaica.
Until we meet again...

Wow, another 30 Days come and gone. I must say, it seems harder this year for it to end. How sweet it is to have shared it with you all! This truly is a special tribe we create every November. Until we’re blessed to converge here again, I wish you all peace and love and health! Maybe I'll see some of you in December over at the unofficial 31 DoD. Otherwise, see y’all further on up the road.

To the band, and Dave and everyone behind the scenes—THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! What a particularly stellar year this 30 DoD has been! And EVERY year you make my heart bigger! Cheers!

Singing, Thank you…for a real good time! I went 28/30 this year, missed 2 days to a cannabis edibles mishap. Compiled a nice long list of must listen to’s from all the searching to keep me truckin’ until next Nov.! Be good everyone!

A little bit of the intro is missing from the vault tapes here, have a listen on another source it really sets the tone for this amazing Dark Star.

I will miss some of the banter now that November is over. Dave sure gave us some well chosen insights into some wonderful shows. This has been fun! And, according to someone who was counting, this is the longest running 30DoD collection yet! I remember the first two years, I actually went to the trouble of burning them to cds and printing off the cover art! The dim and distant past, huh?

I rather like the skipping of the impossible song selection.

    Grand Prize Winner?

For those who are skeptical about the grand prize: Got an email yesterday telling me I am the grand prize winner this year. I believe it's not spam. I had 29 out of 30 correct entries. I've been playing for a few years. 2 years ago (I think) I won a calendar, which they never sent. By the time I got their attention the calendars were all gone, so they sent me CDs of "ready or not" and "Warfield", which was really very nice of them.

Unfortunately, I already have a copy of "Listen", but it won't be the first box set that I have in duplicate. In fact, I have all of the most valuable sets in duplicate! Not smart.

I really enjoy 30 days of dead. It almost makes up for the impossibility of acquiring some of the LP sets, which get
bought up instantly by resellers and become impossible for real fans like me to purchase at a reasonable price.
Record Store Day is a total joke. I'll likely never be able to afford Olympia, Daves Picks 1, or Dicks Picks 36. Oh well.
